G35 Vs. S2000
Hi, my friend owns a S2000. He said my car seems pretty fast, but he is confident that he could take me in the quarter mile or even 0-60. Does anyone have any comparisions on the two cars? I need to know how much BS I can talk to back up my ride.
Re: G35 Vs. S2000
One thing about the S2000 is that to get any good ET times you have to drop the clutch at dizzying high rpms, right around where the VQ engine hits the rev limiter. I've seen them go as fast as 5.3s and as slow as 7s to 60MPH. So it probably comes down to a drivers race.

I think a lot of it will do with the driver also, but the S2000 is pretty quick. I don't recall specific times but it may be faster than the G.

I have seen S2000 timeslips of 13.8 for the 1/4 under perfect conditions on various websites, but usually more like 14.2. It probably is slightly quicker as it is so much lighter (2800lbs).

i raced one from a 35mph roll. a dead even jump. he had one passanger. and i couldnt belive it, we were door to door for the longest time. but once we hit 90 he started to gain and he had 1 car @ 100mph and we shut down. he was surprised how long we were tied for.

My hubby has an S2000. One night we raced from a rolling start. I had him by a nose to about 70, but I let off cause we were on surface streets. He was mad cause he thinks he wouldve pulled away at the top end. Maybe he would have, but all I know is that he said he was flooring itbut I wasnt. I guess it just depends on the driver! I love my G!!!

I was next to a S2000 as we were both slowing for a red light. It changed to green before we stopped and we both punched it from a roll - about 25mph to 60mph when we had to slow for traffic. Dead even. I was thinking afterwards that I was in 3rd gear and had I downshifted the G would have left the Honda behind.

Re: G35 Vs. S2000
Remember from a roll the S2000 is an average performer as it will need to get up into VTEC (5750rpm) unless it's already in the right gear. It's from a standstill where the driver can dump the clutch from 7000rpm that the S2000 makes up a lot of time. I hear it's also got great top-end (above 100mph) but I've never driven one above 80.
Re: G35 Vs. S2000
well I own both, see signature and have raced my s2000 with 10k mi againsts my g35/auto with 1500mi. From 60 to 130 I had about 2.5 to 3 cars on the sedan. This probably isn't a typical race however due to the speeds. I was very unimpressed with how well the auto gets out of the whole. I would imagine a stick would be much better. The others are correct in what a bitch the s2k is to launch, the optimal launch rpm is around 7000rpm's (Not something I recommend for the longevity of the vehicle and I have never done!) The s2000 is a monster up high but a pain to get going. I would say that a properly driven s2000 will not lose to a g35 manual or auto, however it will come at the cost of abusing the car. I personally didn't buy the s2000 to race in straight lines and can't comprehend people that attempt to measure its capability by doing so. But to each his own. Now, if anybody would like meet an s2k at the track

I raced one today in MA up to 120 and he went by me while I was in 3rd in my auto by about a car length up till I shifted into 4th and then I started pulling him....we finished with him still ahead on the top end, but by nearly nothing for margin...He gave me the thumbs up and a big smile which is awesome...I was very impressed with how the car got going and kept it up...In the same scenario I pulled my buddy's V8 Lincoln LS pretty easily above 80...So again kudos to the S2000!

Re: G35 Vs. S2000
I sold My S2000 for a G35 coupe......like one of the other posts said....the S2k is NOT a drag demon....I have NO idea about the G35 sedan, but off the line I think the Coupe would take the S2000....the S2000 would probally catch up though at 40 mph...and start to take off at about 60....all of its power is after 6500 rpm...now if you were to come across an S2000 at say....45 mph and try to race....you would probaly look stupid...as i would sucker people into a quick race at that speed....all I had to do was drop down to 2nd gear in the S2K at 45 mph and I was at 6000 rpm and vtec....but again the 2k is more a side road carver than anything else.....PLUS.....with a few mods to the G35 you should have no ISSUES with an S2K.....but to each their own...and btw 7000 rpm launches in a s2000 will get you about 10 launces......after that your clutch IS GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! speaking from experience.....or actually i should say letting the woman dirve it LOL
Re: G35 Vs. S2000
FiremanG35 where are your numbers coming from? The Z beats it hands down. I was not aware that the Z is so much faster than a G Coupe 6Mt. I personally think that a G35 6Mt would take a S2000 in all RPMs. I have raced one many of times and the S2000 always looses.
Re: G35 Vs. S2000
I just speak from my personal experience...like I said I sold my S2000 for a G35 coupe...but I do believe that a S2000 puts up better numbers than a 350Z......marginally....and we are talking like .1 or .2 seconds.....but than again it all depends on what magazine you read and also the driver...It really doesn't matter to me which is faster in the end.....after all....the G35 just gets you there with a little more room and STYLE
