Assuming it had to be a brand new car, this is my short list.

In this order:

1. Audi A4 2.0T
2. Nissan 350z track
3. Mini Cooper S
4. Mitsubishi Evolution VIII MR
5. BMW 325i

I'd still get the G....

but those new BMW e90 325i's are pretty hard, kinda overpriced though, once you start adding leather and Xenon's you got a big price tag.

I really like the new Lexus IS, but other than the money issue...I'm kind of a big guy about 5'11 200+ and it seems way too cramped for me.

Acura TL is real nice, but it gets killed with the FWD immediately.

The Mercedes C class is a good looking car, but from the online reviews from owners it's a PIECE OF SH*TT...I mean baddddd reviews as far as performance and quality..

The EVO's and STI's are cool, and if I had the extra dough to literally burn I wouldn't mind having one as a second car to jump into when I'm feeling fast. But I could never see me owning one as a daily driver, too fast and furious/ricy, no luxury, etc...

S2000 is a real nice car, if I was into having a roadster I'd definitely pick one of those up, but I'm not a convertible kinda guy. But I must say it's a very handsome car, fast sports car but retains a nice class and luxury, projector exnons, push button ignition, digital gauges, smooth shifter, tite handling, honda reliability, etc...my only negatives about it is the cramped interior and lack of low end torque. Plus I'm not some one who enjoys convertibles all that much, but maybe one day I'll have one as a second car.

Sorry for the long post, kinda went off there

My 2nd pick is the GTO, looks crappy on the outside but the inside is done up nicely. Can't complain with 400 horsepower.

I would say GTO as well even though it is more expensive. It seems like you can get a really good deal on one, though. Otherwise, I guess the Acura TL. I like how it looks and the interior but fwd really turns me off. I might go with the new IS250 with a manual but it seems like you would always be kicking yourself for not getting the 350.

I'd look at the Audi A3 and the new Passat (nice interior). Maybe an STI. Legacy GT and mod it up for HP. Maybe wait for the new Grand National. I really wanted to like the TL, but couldn't get past the FWD. Or go in with a friend and buy a 50% stake in a Z06.
