What is this?!?

I wanted to see if we would be able to run a dual exhaust setup that looks like the M's... but when I checked for clearance on the right side I found this

What is this? and can it be relocated/removed?

Search is your friend. There was a thread back around July or so that addressed this exact thing. We are not able to have a dual exhaust and that post went into why. I don't recall the details but like I said search is your friend.

That's the evap cannister. It is an emmission component. Remove it and you will throw a code.

Ive got an 05 rwd. I found this by removing an underbody panel that covers it, under the rear right side of the car.

Thanks for the info everyone, who actually had relevant info...

Ahhh touche'! What I get for trying to remember something from months back on short notice. LOL! That's not even the thread I was talking about either.

I was just trying to let the guy know it had been discussed before and at least I had the 1/2 good sense to say that I didn't know all the details.

so basically it is only used for diagnosis of other evap problems, i think i will try to just put a hose connector and connect the hose coming in and out. thanks for the good info there... unplugging it might throw some code though.....
