Hey guys, just got my Black/Black 05 Sedan a couple of weeks ago and I decided to tint the car
. Right now, I'm still looking at what options I have and have done some searches on the forums. I'm still not sure as to whether what kind of tints are the best to get (ie. titanium, ceramic, etc) in regards to looks, reliability, and effectiveness in blocking out the sun, and was hoping for some input
. Also, what is the legal limit here in California for the tints and how much leeway is there? I have also read a lot about the back window tinting and whether to cut around the brake light or to just tint the whole thing? What is the best to do for that? Also, are there other issues that I need to talk to the tint shop about regarding difficulties in tinting such as the dot matrices I have seen mentioned in some threads
? Thanks for the input!

Tint laws for cali are 70% up front and no limit on the rear. I got 20% all around on mine and havent gotten a ticket yet (knock on wood). I've driven by numerous cops with it and they dont seem to care.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting 20% all around too, or maybe 35% in the front. But what kind of tints would you suggest to get? Do the metallic tints not look as black but rather like metal or something? I think I read that somewhere during my search on the forums. Any pics? THanks!

I have formula one reflective tint. Mine has a greenish-yellow tint to it at certain angles that i didnt think i would like at first. But once i saw it combined with my IP paint i loved it. Metallic tints have a silver, almost mirror like, color to them. You could go either way. Black tint looks great on a black car... i would also consider the metallic tint. Either way its gonna look good. 35% front and 20% rear wouldnt be bad. Its not too far apart so the difference wouldnt be that noticable which is nice. It's really all up to you in the end. Here's some pics of my car: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2116428
I'm in Sacramento (What up Cali!) and I'm running 2% on the back 5 windows (sedan) and 50% up front and I love it. I also have black interior, so you cannot see in the back at all. WIth the HOT sun in the summer, I highly recommend going darker than 20% (doesn't block out the heat at all).
My two cents.

Call up your local tint shop and ask about prices and differences between there specific tints. That shold help you decide. All were going to be able to tell you is what tint we have. I have the formula one premier series 20% tint. For your car i'd recommend Formula One pinnacle series. Its more expensive than the premier and the classic but it looks damn good. Pinnacle is a darker shade than the classic even at the same percent. Pinnacle is the reflective tint.
