G35 vandalized...need advice

This weekend my g35 was vandalized. The mirror was broken off and is hanging by a wire. The piece that broke is a black plastic piece that connects at the bottom of the mirror the the sailpanel on the drivers side door.

Originally, I had thought that this piece would be sold separately, however, it is not and the dealer wants $400 to replace and repaint with a new mirror. Is there any possible way that anyone knows that I could just get the black plastic connector piece?

I think you need the entire piece. You might want to check any junkyards to see if they have it. Might be a cheaper way to go.

I had mine hit a while ago. Never broke off, but the casing for the mirror is cracked from the bottom. I asked around and the dealer and bodyshops all told me that it has to be replaced.

I checked junkyards but no luck. This is going to be a $400 job for a stupid plastic piece. It's a shame because the mirror itself is still in perfect condition.

Superglue or pull a ricer move...duct tape seems to fix anything!

There will be no duct tape on my car..superglue sounds reasonable but I question its ability to hold tight.

How could Infinity be so fu**in stupid not to sell the piece separately? Similar problem happend with the CLK and at least Mercedes has a more intricate parts bin. I'm a little pissed at Infinity but I gotta fix what I have to fix at this point in time.

Infinity is stupid, Infiniti is not. What about insurance? Isn't that what you pay premiums for?

if his insurance is like mine, then he has a $500 vandalism deductable. Either way, he is still out $400-$500

Look at this as an opertunity. Get 2 new mirrors and have the ugly black section painted to match the color of your car. That is unless your car is black.

Did you already report it to anyone?
If not, go ahead and steal your airbag and radio, sell it, then claim to your insurance to get money back for deductible. Just kidding

JB Weld will make it stronger than it was in the first place. Plus it can be painted black afterwards (it is dark gray once dried). Pick some up at your local WalMart. JB weld is awesome stuff. I use it for heavy duty purposes when superglue wont cut it. Trust me. I had a friend who sealed a crack in his motorcycle crank case with it...seals like metal and is unaffected by heat.
