my 05 G35 review

in the sun i will agree with you the 03 is hard to read
but im talking about MPH, maybe because im not used to it, but when i drive i have to check twice to make sure im at the right speed limit, the little MPH needles are too close together and the 5mph mark is too big next to the 10mph increment
i think youre just really used to your 03 for all the cosmetic differences...its all on taste...performance wise...well i dunno, the 03 may have FELT faster because it was lighter...i highly doubt you will have a 05 run slower than a 03...but as someone said earlier, the gas octane may be the difference
I checked your profile to see if you have your mod's listed (if any) and there are none...does that mean your '03 doesn't have any performance mods? (as this too could be a factor...if you're '03 is modded) I highly doubt the octane would result in that much of a difference too.

Who's running 14.1 @ 97 mph with their STOCK 2003 G35 6MT?

If you need to one up people, try a new M5 or Aston or Bugatti has a new monster coming out. Bashing over a guage is ridiculous! All the gauges suck and so does the orange peel all over the place! This is ENTRY lux stop acting like you drive a Rolls and realize most cars now costing 35k are faster, and better equipped inside than any G!
dude this is a comparison from the 03/04 to the 05
no one is comparing the g35 to a bugatti
this isnt a $35k car comparison
im stating whats improved over the years and what really hasnt

With that said, if my 03 got totalled, I'd buy an 05. I like the interior/exterior better plus I can get LSD with the 5AT. It's a no brainer.
I drive an '04. I had an '05 loaner today and I can tell you that I liked it much better. The tranny, brakes and throttle all have a much more fluid, solid feel. Interior is definetly better. My butt dyno says both cars are the same in power.

To add my 2 cents, i like my 06 to the 05's i drove. BT is awesome, geeky and useful at the same time.
And yes utterly stupid feature to most.(Gotta use it to love it)

I'm doing almost 98mph in the 1/4 mile with a Z-pipe and in conditions equal to about 2200' above sea level. Show me an 05 5AT sedan that's come remotely close to that. What about the 260hp 6MT sedans? Clearly underrated. In Japan, the 03/04 Skyline 350GT sedan is rated at 272hp yet in the US the same car is rated at 260hp. Just something to consider.

Heres my review,
Suspension:
First off i wanted to say the 05 handles like crap(also non-sport), it has alot of body roll, the car only has 6300k miles on it and just isnt as smooth as it should be

Hey LuXXXz:
I know I'm old school, but I was very impressed that the '05 even ran at all, with 6 Million 300 Thousand miles on it, as your post stated (6300k = 6,300 x 1,000)
Seriously, the octane can and does make a significant difference, especially after the car has gotten "used" to the low octane. Even a fillup with high octane would probably take more than a full tank before the engine's computer system recalibrated for the better fuel. Don't know if it would be the difference between being "smoked" or not, but it will make a difference.
I drove an '05 loaner when my '04 6MT was in for service, but it was a 5AT without sport suspension, so I really couldn't compare the two realistically. What bothered me was the fact that they swapped the tach to the wrong side (now on the left, with speedo on the right vs. tach on the right in '03 and '04s). I don't recall any serious left hand drive performance car with a tach on the left side of the instrument panel. Probably just me, but when I'm accelerating hard I do it with my left hand at about 10:00 on the wheel, and I have to bend/lift my arm to see the tach when it's on the left side. Don't think I could live with a left hand side tach in a MT equipped car (unless I just wait to hit the rev limiter, then shift each time
).My $0.02

dbarnes good looking out on the 6300k
haha ooops
and i didnt even pay attention to the tachs, maybe thats why its hard to read and i just thought it was the mph marks on the speedo
