So I am driving to school yesterday on the usual route. Anyways I figure there is probably a cop ahead so I slow down a bit, as I come up the hill there is a cop. She is already getting on her bike and has her lights on, so I figure its for me. She pulls me over and goes you were speeding and you were going a bit fast so I have to give you a ticket. I say how fast and she says 68, I go what makes you think that and she said I tagged you with a laser gun. I go are you sure it was my car I have a laser detector (I had it under my backpack when she pulled me over and only mentioned it after she mentioned the ticket) and her response was those things don't work to well. I've been beemed by a laser by a cop in the exact same place and it said LASER on my Escort 8500. Is there a good chance my car could have been lasered and my detector just did not pick it up, I've had it go off with cops behind and to the side, so I imagine straight from the front it would definatley tell me. The reason I wonder this is because I am sure I was not speeding (I am fighting the ticket) and I assume the cop tagged the wrong car.

 

Please tell me the speed limit wasn't 65 MPH!

Laser detectors are not 100% failproof, even with the passport or V1. Its just as probable that she did tag you.

 

I have been hit with laser and my V1 didn't go off. Laser detectors have the hardest time in bright light. Also, the closer you are to the gun, the smaller the beam, so if she aimed at your plate from a close distance, the beam might not have hit your detector.

I have no front plate. I am going to go back to the place and take pictures. On the way home from school I couldn't see my car from the cops position, so I think I have a valid case when I request for my trial by mail.
