I have a 2004 g35 Sedan with the sport package that came with Goodyear Eagle GSd 215/55/17 tires. At 20k miles they pretty much wore out. I wanted to replace them but not sure if I should get the same tire. It's has awesome handling and ride. I was considering the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
in either 245/50ZR-17 or 235/50ZR-17 sizes. Has anyone used these ? If so how do you like them or do you recommend another better set. Please let me know as soon as you can. I really would appreciate it

I have a 2003.5 6MT Sedan and replaced the tires with the 235/50/17 Pilot Sport A/S and they are great. They are every bit as grippy as the OEM GSD's and have the added benefit of all season traction. Very helpful in the rain. No issues on the size up as the math is the same and you only put a little more rubber on the road. They are a little pricey and if you look around, there are some less expensive solutions. The way I do the math, the P-Sports were 25% cheaper than the OEM replacements and I get a better tire....Next.

I have the 235/50ZR-17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires and think they are fantastic. Exactly the stock diameter too - so no speedo error.

Very highly reviewed on Tire Rack but they are pricy. They are quiet, ride well, and handle light snow and rain better than any tire in this class. I've never felt it hydroplane at all with the Pilots. You might also look at the well regarded Kumho and Avon tires as they are cheaper.

Have either of you noticed an difference in mileage once you upgraded to the tire ? I already only get about 18 mpg in the city. I really can't imagine a sedan getting any worse.

Having the Avon 550's on my 03 Altima, I highly recommend them........

Thanks so much. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. One more question, have you noticed any difference in mileage once you put these in ? I would think this would be a heavier tire since the tires seem to be larger.

MPG changes from the upgrade to 235/50/17 Pilot Sport A/S: I lost a few 10th's (.3 mpg) but started at 23 MPG which is my long term average. I have also noticed that I can't break it loose as easy from a standing start. I think I have a bit more traction to contend with, which is fine by me.

Too late for me to weigh in, I guess - but I faced the same dilemma recently.

24,000+ miles on the stock GSD's, and I went with the Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3's in the 235/50/17 size from Tire Rack. Can't hardly break these tires loose, under most any circumstance - they absolutely stick like glue.

Wear may be an issue, though - other members who went this route before me have reported only about 15,000 +/- miles on them until worn out. Have to monitor it, and most of us here would like a followup report on mileage, wear, grip, ride, etc. on those Michelins of yours too, I'd bet.

Very sticky tires. Working good for me in the rain.

The only downside is that in colder weather (places that get snow), I've read that they dont hold up as good. Hard spots develop on the tire.

Other than that, it has gotten awesome reviews on Tire Rack as well. I also had the Michelin Pilots prior to getting the Goodyears but I did not get the benefit of starting out with them new (came used with my coupe wheels) but I have nothing negative to say about them for the short while I did have them.

Both great tires..quiet and handle great.
Oh, if you are really in to the looks of a tire, the Pilots have more of a squared side wall while the Goodyears tend to be a bit more on the round side.

I ran a set of Eagle F1 GSD3's. Awesome tire. You don't need snow for them to start sucking though, they're a bit slippery when the temp drops to around 50 until they warm up from driving. I think that's true for most any summer-only tire.
