New Kumho tire in 05 6mt stock 235/45-18
Some comments:
Comparing this new Kuhmo (a UHP tire) to ANY Max P tire is just...well, dumb..of course the MP tire is going to outperform it.
As to the sentiment that higher performance tires = safer... most people don't have the ability to drive at that high a level, so it may be a valid point but it's a moot one. No point in spending money needlessly, right? Though there is decided trend to do that in today's society. People buy a $3000 desktop when all they need is a calculator.
Regarding Kuhmo being an "inferior" product...I disagree, from first hand experience. They may not rate #1 with C&D or R&T, but they are equal in quality with the world's top brands and better than many.
Finally, higher price doesn't = better tire. Buy the tire that meets your needs and driving style. Personally, I'm glad to see another choice in our stock size.

Why would anyone be " an ethnic studies major"? Just what does one do with that sort of lofty degree? Agitate? Teach others to agitate? I`m serious here. I see absolutely no need for a degree in "ethnic studies". Can somebody help me see the light?
Have a set of 235/45/18's arriving tomorrow and getting the Dunlop M3's off Friday. Will let you know initial impressions.
This thread sure got off-topic.
I think it's fantastic that I dont have to spend $200+ on a tire for my G. I just spent $1K for a set of 4 winter M3's that Ill barely get 2 winters out of since I drive 32K+ miles a year commuting.
To be able to get a UHP tire like the Kumho's for $500 all-in, drive the car like I stole it until I put the winters on this coming fall is great.
How bad can they be? If they were that bad, they wouldnt carry them.
My M3's are wearing fast. Cant wait to get them off and stop the tire replacement cash burn...

Very rough riding and poor handling. The Kumho tires are much better. Tread seems to be wearing very fast also. Not worth the low price. -- Review Submitted 2006-02-18

I purchased these tires to replace my stock Goodyear NCT5 that came on my G35 Sedan with the Sport Package. I was afraid to even try Generals due to past experience with them and how horrible most of the tires they make were. But these tires have definitely made a serious impression. This weekend I went with the Nissan Z club through a 400 mile drive in the hill country of speeds excess of 80~ mph with these tires. Taking turns at 100% faster speeds than posted. The tires GRIPPED, and I mean GRIPPED. It rained on the morning part of the drive and the tires GRIPPED! I had issues trying to break the tires loose in the wet in turns. The car just would not do it and it would turn! People were amazed how well I was doing! They are very quiet but not the queitest, and definitely show they will not wear very fast at all. The ride from 18s to 19s did not suffer much at all. These tires seem to keep it nice. -- Review Submitted 2006-01-31
The bottom one is mine. But if you look at every review, there is only one that is negative and its the one you pulled. IMHO that guy was just against the tires from the start. Everyone else was happy reason why I bought them. There was no negative reviews on them.

Where did you get these said tires from? Do they carry a 235/45/18?

Please post up your review!
i have kumho's on my car.Close to 21.000miles still doing good. For me its s steal/worth every penny. No complaints here.BTW,korean made products are getting better/more reliable says consumer report. They're getting reliable they said.better than the achtung/autobahnen products period.Again, thats the fact.
Willdo. They get installed Friday. Happy to get the $1k snows off to save some tread on them.
Tire Rack doesnt sell the Generals in the 235/45/18 size, that's why I went with the Kunho's.
Doesn't feel as bad burning through a $500 set of tires by this coming winter rather than a $1K set...
