Just washed my G35!!!
Re: Just washed my G35!!!
I remember my first wash and detail. I ordered Blackfire products and counted down until I could use them on my baby. Too bad the clay bar left scratches all over my clear coat!!!
Now make sure you wash it once a week from here on out!

Re: Just washed my G35!!!
It wasn't my first wash ever on the car dude. It was the first wash in a week on it.
I do wash it every week, but I was traveling last week on business.

Re: Just washed my G35!!!
So, are all Blackfire products bad for the finish or just the clay?? I was just at a site looking up Blackfire and it seems pretty good, but if there are any problems I'd like to know what to avoid...
Re: Just washed my G35!!!
I use Maguires (right spelling?) products. They have a clay bar/spray kit. Use it EXACTLY as the instructions say and you will get great results. I used it on my wifes dark purple saturn, and it looked great. Wash first, make sure you get all loose dirt and tar, And when the car is dry, work on a 2'X2' section. Use some type of ultra fine polish/glaze after that. And finally WAX ON, WAX OFF Daniel-San.
Re: Just washed my G35!!!
Dude, After week of owning it I decided to wash my car on Sunday evening. It took about 2 hours. Ofcourse on Monday when I wake up in the morning its pouring. When I get into the office garage the clouds break and it turns into a beautiful day in South Florida. It wasn't that great considering I was cursing the rest of the day.
Its like taking a shower and then getting that urge to take a crap.
But it did look good for a few hours.

I had no problems with the Blackfire clay bar on my wife's car (2001 Volvo). Worked great.

Unless it's a show car, I think most of those products are overrated!! I have owned the following cars over the years and other than a regular car wash - I have never waxed them:
83 Audi 5000 Turbo
87 Saab 9000 Turbo
89 Mazda 626
90 Infiniti Q45
93 GMC Typhoon
03 Infiniti G35
What I am saying is the finish on modern cars are so superior, that I feel it's unnecessary to use these products, which usually only give you a few days of enjoyment anyway. Only my $0.02!!!!!

Oops, I assumed it was your first wash, since you didn't specify, dude.
Something obviously went horribly wrong with my clay bar. I must have picked up some grit along the way, although I was really careful.
Aside from that, the Blackfire stuff is great, and I like the website. I recommend the product although everyone has an opinion on what to use (Zaino, McGuires, Crystal Guard, etc.)

Typhoon--I'm wondering--if you haven't ever used such products, then how do you know what they do or don't do?
Modern car paint finishes aren't tough as nails. Sun, weather, pollution, and dirt take their toll. Some colors of paint fade more than others (especially reds and darker colors) and various waxes or polymers help protect the color and the integrity of the surface. If you put a car that's only ever been washed next to the same car that's had wax or polymer protectant finishes applied once or twice a year, you will see a big difference, even moreso over time.
I Zainoed my garnet fire G35 when it was brand new and the difference in the shine and reflection versus no protectant was astounding. Now even when my car gets dirt on it, it looks pretty clean because of the shine. Rain beads up and rolls right off. Dirt comes off much easier when I wash it. Bird droppings are less likely to damage the paint surface.
It all takes time and TLC, but to my eye, and since I hang on to the cars I love for 5 or 6 years, it's worth it.
I had a G20 that was 8 years old when I sold it and the guy couldn't believe the paint job was in such fabulous condition--looked like new. Few G20s that age looked that good. So, doing more than just a wash does make a difference.
To each his or her own. I don't mind spending the time on it and I love short term and long term results--which get noticed by others as well. And that's always fun.

Re: Just washed my G35!!!
Anyone heard of or used Buffalo Milke. I got the tip on it from a detail guy at the local Infiniti dealership. Stuff seems easy to use. Think I might buy a buffer tho (any suggestions...don't wanna break the bank!). Waxed the sedan a couple of weeks ago and it was a few hours of labor...but worth it. Here is the link to Buffalo Milke...
