I didn't mention the mileage I get around town in my 05 X because I am embarassed

My wife in her 04 Armada doesn't get much worse! Oh well, I knew getting into it that the X was gonna be crappy on gas. My only question is to Infiniti/Nissan. How do various versions of the VQ vary in mileage so much? I guess gearing really makes a difference. Makes sense that they should use another gear in the autos to increase highway MPG.

My guess is that the 07 G35 (or whatever year the complete redesign comes out) will have a 6-speed auto or maybe even a 7-speed like the new Mercedes. Bottom line is the G35 is geared for performance and moving the high gear up (without adding more gears) will just increase the spacing between the lower gears a result in a performance hit. How about cylinder deactivation combined with a V-8 like the newer GM and Chrysler cars are getting? That would be sweet!
