24.9 mpg in the 05X

just thought I would share that I just got 24.9mpg with my X today on a 190 mile trip. This was with the cruise set at 79 mph for 180 of the 190 miles. Only mods are full Grounding Gear kit, Z-tube and K&N. Just passed 5600 miles today. I think a big part of the mileage is that when I filled up, the 93 octane was not oxygenated at all, just pure gas (southern MO). Here in St Louis, where I live they have that oxygenated crap and with that I only get around 23 mpg at the same speed.

I think that is pretty good for what we have. That is bit better than I have ever got on my X and that to was on a long highway trip cruising between 75-80 mph. I got 29.4 Imp mpg (24.5 US mpg) I would imagine we could do a bit better if we had our cruise speeds a bit lower, but WHO can do that .

Sounds about right. I usually average around 24-25 on highway trips. Just as long as I stay below 80. Above that, and mileage goes into the crapper.

Was this a round-trip? Did you have a 50mph tail wind? Was it all downhill? I'm confused?

Mileage sounds about right. My 6MT sedan, which is lighter and has less loss in the drivetrain so it should get a bit better MPG, gets 27.X-28.X on long highway cruises at 75mph (including stops for gas, eats, etc). Highest ever was 29mpg, but that was with the speed down to 65mph driving through the night with no other cars as cover. Average over 80mph and the mileage drops to 22-23. Like you mentioned with the oxygenated gas, my mileage drops by >10% every November when they change over in NJ.

When they started oxygenated gas in my area years ago, I noticed an immediate drop in performance in my old car. I have no doubt it affects mpgs.

Those are some great numbers. My average MPG is about 18. I think I need to lay off on the pedal. Too much fun with the 6MT.

I just bought a new G35x (2006). I'm praying right now that I get anything even close to that. To be honest, I'll be happy if I average 20mpg.

on our new 2005x, we get about 16-17 mpg, stop and go city and agressive highway driving )) - keeping rpm under 4k as manual says

this on 89 octane.
We put 94 octane next time. cant wait

Highest I've ever gotten was 21.29 and that was almost 100% highway driving at around 80mph. Worst was my first tank of gas when I picked up the car...shy of 15. Avg Mpg over the course of almost one year is about 17mpg with about 50/50 city and highway.

I can't imagine someone getting 29mpg on the X. That means the rwd 6mt should be able to get over 30mpg.

well, like I said in my post, this was 98% highway with almost never takeing the cruise off the whole time. This was 190 miles one way - nice and cold air ~45 degrees. Around town driving to work and back, we get ~ 19 mpg which I think is ok.

I get 24.3 MPG in my '04x. Right at 20 MPG in my 50/50 commute.

p.s. It doesn't seem to matter what speed I set teh cruise at, I always get the same 24.3.
