I was at Best Buy today looking at the 8500 X50 laser with a buddy of mine because I want a new radar/laser to replace my $80 whistler. I asked the guy about the V1 also and he was thrashing at it...(even tho V1 is just as good, if not better). Anyways, I have limo tint all around and he said that the tint reduces the efficiency of the detectors to about 33%!!! Is this true? I had limo tint all around but a cop got me for the front two. So I took off the front and still have the limo tint on the back 2 windows and rear windshield. So before I buy my new radar, should I take the tint off, or what???

I have heard that the metalized films will reduce effectiveness

I've heard the same from many sources (including a few "radar testing" sites), but still no concrete evidence. Your main concern would be the front windshield, in my opinion.

And I don't think metallic tint comes that dark, right?
