G35x wheel options

I just joined the site this morning and am looking for feedback on wheel options for my recently purchased '04 G35x. The dealer parts guy told me not to do anything larger than the 17-inch stock wheels - which I really don't care for. He said it would mess with the AWD calibration system. That doesn't make sense to me if I stick close to the same overall diameter. Can't I go to an 18-inch or maybe even 19's without screwing up the AWD? Any feedback or wheel recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can go to 18 or 19" wheels as long as you do what you said and stick close to the original overall diameter and don't stagger them.
I went with the 05 OEM 18" sedan sport wheels and tires on my X.
Try the search feature on the site and there are peeps with aftermarket 18s and 19s on their X's.

^^WHS^^ I agree completely

OEM diameter is about 26.3"
So going +1 or +2 is fine, just make a tire selection to yield a dia close to the same.

The OEM 05 sedan sport rim is 7.5" x 18" x +45mm offset.
Guys that are running 18 x 8" or 8.5" on the sedans are generally running +38 to +42mm offset.

Have you considered the 05/06 17" wheels? I like the ones that came on my 06 X. There are probably quite a few people 5AT people who are selling theirs.

Just can't run staggered with the AWD ... it will confuse the crap out of the ATTESSA system!

GEE35X, are those the ones with seven spokes, sort of a satin finish?

I'm running 245/40/18s, 18 x 8, +45 offset no problem.

Cheers!

Wow, those really do look nice. The dealer told me I had to stick with wheels off a sedan, that I could not go with wheels off a coupe due to the fact that the coupe has 8-inch up front and 8.5 inch in the rear, but you guys are telling me that's not the case?

P.S. How do you all quote the message in the reply? When I try to reply I cannot check the box that says "quote message in reply?"

The wheels and tires on my car are off the sedan , they are 18" x 7.5", and they are 45mm offset. It is no problem running these on the X.
The problem with using the coupe wheels and tires on the X , is that the coupe comes with different size tires front and back, but the front and rear rims are the same size, so you must purchase 4 tires the same size because you should not run a staggered set-up on the X. The coupe rims are 30mm offset so they stick out quite a bit more, but they look real good on the sedans. I know there are a few rwd sedans running the coupe 18 x 8s or 19 x 8.5" and they look really good. I have heard in a couple of cases where they did rub.
