G35x in extremely cold conditions

The inevitable has happened and the mercury has plummeted to -25 to -30 celcius the past few days in Saskatchewan, Canada where I live (why I'm not sure on days like these!). It's the first winter for my new G35x and I must say I'm impressed. The awd works well (even with the stock tires), the car starts easily and warms up quickly.

The only annoying thing so far is that there is a bad rattle coming from the rear left (muffler?) when the car first starts in the extreme cold. It goes away once the car is warmed up. Is this normal for a G? Or should I have it checked. I've never had this problem with other vehicles.

Welcome bro, and it's way cold out there compared to here in Ontario...brrr.
Congrats on the 'X' and I'm glad you're enjoying it.
The rattle you mentioned isn't normal and must be an exhaust part that isn't hung properly.
Have the dealer adjust it for you. An easy fix for him.

G/L and let us know how it goes.
Hope it warms up for you.
C.

Ir there has been snow, the rattle can be from a build-up of snow that freezes into a solid lump just above the muffler. Take a look to see if this is the problem.

Was lurking on the site today...haven't been on in ages. Traded in the '05X for an '11 A4. I know that noise...like you said -30ish, would sound like something rattling/resonating in the muffler on a cold start. Nothing to worry about IMHO. Other oddities on cold starts: Amp wouldn't work in the radio until it heated up a little, and an awful slam during the first few shifts on a cold start (-25C+).

^ I don't think that's going to help with a rattle from the rear of the car.
