Marital bliss...
Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but I figured I'd drop my 2 cents in on the car... My last post was one of strong regret and disappointment in the G because of the rattles and I never updated to make note of how much of a fool I was to ever doubt this car! So I thought I'd do it now... I brought it in and although the service writer wasn't all that professional, the head mechanic who test drove the car with me was very nice and eager to help fix everything in the car. I received a loaner from the Infiniti dealership and within 3-4 hours, all of the TSBs were addressed and my car was ready for pick up! Ever since, the car has been completely rattle free and in today's snow storm (NY area), it scoffed at the idea of losing traction by trudging through the snow with no problem and this is WITH the OEM tires (G35x)! I also took the advice of some other forum members and adjusted my navigation system and while it can still be painfully inaccurate at times, it's more than adequate. I've felt the allure of the 330i and IS350 but after looking at the price tags, I laugh all the way to the bank! I can't believe they are trying to sell cars that don't really (imo) offer enough over the G35(x) to justify the near $10,000 price difference. All in all, a bumpy start but I can see a very long, happy relationship with the car. Many thanks to the people on here who helped fine tune the car into everything I needed and wanted it to be!
P.S. - I hear our '04 Accord begged for mercy today but I'm sure the much loved Dunlop M3's should help bring it near livable traction. I'm sure our Avalanche would have been the car of choice for commuting today if it wasn't spending over a week in the shop to get the speedometer fixed! After seeing a two year old truck lose something as vital as it's speedometer, I can't sing enough praise about the G35!

I am fortunate enough to not experience any of the squeaks or rattles. That being said, you have no idea how good Infiniti service is until you experience some others in it's class. Case and point, Volvo. Absolutely horrid compared to Infiniti. Those cars have much more than sqeaks and rattles, and the dealers are trained to say "NTF, it's perfectly normal".
The G has been a welcome change.....

Thanks. Nissan-Infiniti offer pretty decent dealerships as a whole. When I've taken the Avalanche in for service, not only did I have to sit in a waiting room that looked like a greasy tool shed for the mechanics with a tv older than I was but the service took forever and the truck has more problems than you can shake a stick at. I've been to two different Chevrolet dealerships and both were equally horrible experiences. Furthermore, I was amused to see on the service receipt that Chevrolet would send a service survey and follow up call to evaluate customer satisfaction and to, of course, not receive any of the above.
The Honda dealership was similar to many Japanese car dealerships and my most recent experience was in a brand new Honda dealership. The service was fast and customer care was decent but the waiting room itself looked like a propped up super cubicle with crappy chairs and an aging 19" tv for everyone to enjoy. The only thing bizarre about that dealership that I remember was when the car was ready and I drove it out of the service bay and then realized the e-brake was on! (It's an automatic but I suppose it might be safety procedure.)
The Infiniti dealership in Ramsey, NJ was excellent and very professional. I had my car in and registered within 15 minutes and they pulled the loaner vehicle right to the front of the service area ready for me to drive. The one thing I noted about this car was that it was a 2005 G35x but it didn't have next to any of the features my car offers minus leather. There is such a night and day difference between what I'm assuming is the base G35x and the fully loaded one that I wouldn't even guess it to be the same car! The biggest thing I felt was the difference in the base model's Turanzas and my Goodyears.. the Goodyears are far superior imo.
At the Nissan dealership that I frequently go to for routine service, their waiting room is similar in comfort to the Infiniti dealership with a large, modern tv and a well designed, open and airy waiting room. I didn't even notice the hour go by for service and when the service was finished, they parked my car outside for me to pick it up (without the e-brake engaged I might add!).
With experiences like this, I definitely expect to be apart of the Nissan-Infiniti family for quite a while because even the great empire of Honda paled in comparison! I do like the new Civic though..

I'm glad you were able to sort things out. I just got back from the dealer myself where they hopefully took care of my creaking rear windows. They were getting pretty bad and getting annoying. It was kind of a pain to take the car to the far away dealer twice to fix it (first time did not have correct bolts) but nothing major. The dealer has been very good about taking care of things and nothing has cost me a dime. It would be nice if the G35 was screwed together a little better but at least most of the things can be easily fixed.
I agree... After enduring the rattles for so long, it almost seems like an impossible situation but when they get those rear doors fixed, you will feel like you are in an entirely different car.. After experiencing the joy of the car with only minor rattles (Who really cares about the every now and then rattle.. It's an entry level luxury car, not a Maybach), I couldn't believe the price I got this car for!
Completely unacceptable to endure rattles. My Honda has none (as well as my Infiniti).
If you buy any car these days, whether it be a 20K or a 100K car, it should not rattle.....
Make the dealer DEAL with it. They get paid hansomely for the warranty work......

lol.. I guess so.. I only hear them on very rough road surfaces like the one I live off of (long story, private road, idiot neighbors, no road maintenance agreement) and I live an hour away from the dealership. I can live with the rare creak and rattle here or there. I was much more disappointed in the navi but that has only reinforced the concept of getting a portable GPS navi unit the next time around and saving $1800! Although if Infiniti were to switch to Alpine navi systems (what I believe Honda/Acura uses), I'd have to very seriously reconsider the previous statement.
Just wait till you get a few more chances to really open it up. I can't wait for a nice dry, sunny day at about 40 degrees to fly down the highway. I've got RWD but I got around pretty well through an 11" snow drop with a lot of salt in the trunk. It's really a sweet car to drive. You'll appreciate it more after you've driven it another year.
