Engine Temp

Was just wondering about where everyone's temperature needle is at when driving normally. It was in the shop for about 3 weeks and drove it today and was just wondering because I never really paid too much attention to it. It's about half way when I was driving today and was just wondering.

Thanks,
Kei

I have had my G35x now for almost a year. My temp. needle always settles about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. Doesn't matter if it's zero degrees out side or if it's over 100 with the A/C cranking.

My coupe and sedan were both half way up the gauge and never varied no matter what the weather was like.

yep half way here...weither 12 degrees like this week, or 95 back in July. I think it's just a timer, that goes to half way after about 5 mins of engine running...just playing, but yeah mine is half way.

Half way once warm. Same with my Maxima.
I think it's a Nissan thing.

Once the engine has warmed up, mine is either halfway or very slightly under halfway, no matter the temperature outside.

Thanks all for the answers! Feels much better to know that it's normal. My car was in the shop because I got in a minor accident and had to get the front bumper replaced. They replaced some of the cooling parts as well so in the beginning it was all the way up to 'H' but went down after awhile. Only had the car for half a year and when I got it back, it felt like drivinging a new car again. Felt so much better than the company car I was driving for 3 weeks.

That doesn't sound right to me. I would check the wiring to the electric fans,(do the fans run when the A/C is switched ON?) also check the coolant level in the radiator...if the cooling system was drained then refilled it could have trapped air in the system which could result in a over heating condition.

The tech told me the same thing about an airpocket that might be causing the overheating condition. It fixed itself after a little driving.
