Stillen sways

Anyone painted their sways? Mine showed up candy apple red and I'vg got this silver/black paint theme going. I'm not a Raiders fan, but the color scheme is working. ??

whose gonna see them when there under the car? its not like people are bending down looking under the car when walking by. dont think anyone's painted there's but you should feel free to do so if it suits your color scheme.

Mine came in mustard color. I only see them when I'm changing the oil or when it is up on a lift for whatever reason. I think I would like them more if they were red like yours! hehe

Yeah the oem bar's are pretty well hidden from sight. And the oem bushings do wear away whatever finish their is at that point on the bar. I would not apply new paint to the area where the bushings go. If you do repaint I would hit the bar's with a quick pass with a sheet of 600 grit sand paper to dull the finish and give the new paint something to bite to, also avoiding the area where the bushings go. Then clean them to remove any grease or oil and apply your paint.

I seriously considered powder coating mine 'cause I didn’t like the red... A friend gave voice of reason that you rarely if ever would see it and it's basically a waste of money... I'm a fanatic about color scheme and the red isn’t working for me - but they are on and I haven’t regretted not painting or powder coating.

I know the idea of painting them seams ****, but I figure I'd see what others have done. I guess I'm leaning towards putting them on the way they are and greasing the snot out of the bushings and end links. Frictions your friend yet lubrications the key! ahh 8 years in the service will warp you too.

Grease the snot out of them indeed!!! My right front squeaks slightly when going over bumps... at first it was only when cold - now it's more constant.

Justin at Everythingg35 (Scottsdale Infiniti) advised to use Energy Suspension's "Formula 5 Pre-Lube"... I called Energy to see if they sell it but they don’t... they said some auto parts stores that carry their suspensions might have it - but possibly only with Energy's suspension kits - I haven’t looked into it yet

* Does anyone know where to buy the lube only?

I have mine on the softest setting, far holes, up front and the stiffest setting in the rear, closest holes. No understeer and never had any problems with oversteer. Seems well balanced!

I would try soft front/medium rear. I believe this is what most folks have their settings on. Depending on if you have aftermarket rims or lowered the car you will need to play around with the settings. Personally, soft front and medium rear still introduced some understeer in my case. The front end of the car was pushing into the turn at the track (didn't make it as much fun).

I then set it to the stiffest setting for rear and my rear end would always break loose prematurely around corners. Then I set the left rear on the middle hole and the kept the right rear on the stiffest setting. You can do this "half" setting with the Stillen bars. Now the car seems pretty well balanced. I plan to lower the car on some 350Z htech in January and I suspect that I will need to play around with the sway settings again to get the right balance.

Jimmy, is this your setup? I've been at soft/medium (f/r) for a while and, while the car is better balanced than it was before, I still feel there's too much roll during hard cornering. Can you describe how your sedan handles with the medium/hard setup?

Most manufacturers powder coat their sway bars. Unless you sandblast them of have them chemically dipped, it may be difficult to get a good finish over the existing coating.

For our Saleen, I try to get suspension and chassis parts unfinished, then I powder coat them the desired color. There’s not much you can do about that now, however.
