It appears that ppl change their oil after 1200? Why is that? Is it bad to wait until the recommened 3750? Also, what are the terms to a free oil change by the dealer...could I do an oil change every 1500 if I wanted at no cost? (Got my 3rd year of oil changes free with my car...)

Some may change after the break-in period figuring that any miniscule particles from engine break-in will be flushed out with the oil change.

I didn't change oil until 3400 miles--and I did it then because I was taking my car to the track. The oil change is not free--at least not any any Infiniti dealer I know around here (east coast). It's part of the regular recommended maintenance schedule to keep the warranty valid.

So, whenever you decide to do the oil change, you pay. How many extra times you do it is up to you and how hard you drive the car for those miles between changes.
