SEL light on

My friend decied to take my new G sedan for a drive hit the gas really hard the VDC/Slip light came on and same time SEL light but the VDC/Slip is gone after we pulled it to the side of the road and shut off the engine and started it again. I am just worried something bad has'nt happened. I guess my question is does the SEL light come on normally when VDC/Slip comes on?

Could be from hard driving????? Try an ECU reset to reset the CEL.

you mean like take it to autozone and have them reset the light and see if it comes back again?

No, I mean a reset described here: https://g35driver.com/forums/faq-diy/6538-ecu-resets.html.

Use either the pedal method, or the battery disconnect method.

Mine doesn't. Try the reset as MSM has suggested.

I tried to follow the instructions on resetting the ECU but didn't work for me maybe I am not timing it correct.

Yah man, like MJ_G_35 says: it's all about timing. Don't forget to wait at least 10 seconds after a failed attempt to retry.
With a little practice it will happen, but in the meantime, just disconnect the battery overnight. (negative terminal only).

1. Autozone is a good choice if the light isn't flashing.
2. Is the light flashing or on solid? If it's solid it's ok to drive the car, it's just an emissions/exhaust issue that may have just been a hickup. If the light is flashing, call road side assistance as you've probably got a problem on your hands.

Just like everyone else said above, the pedal method should work for you. Try it with a watch with a second hand when you're doing it. I just did my car the other day and got it on the first try. Good Luck.

Try disconnecting the battery overnight instead if you can't do the pedal method.

I've actually had something similar to this start to happen to me lately. I'm not sure if the cold weather is affecting it, but sometimes if I accelerate hard from low speeds my "Slip" light will come on as well as my "VDC Off" light. Anyone know what this could be from?

The best way of timing it is to put a CD in and start right when it hits 1 sec

Thanks guys I was able to reset the ECU following the peddle method with some practice. I did go to autozone and the guy pulled the code which I forgot to write down but the discription said something with acclerator peddle sensor not initialized but autozone refused to clear the code.
