I'm in the chicago area and someone told me that I'm not supposed to install tints in the winter because they might crack, is this at all true?

 

I picked our new G last December and they tinted my windows in the shop, and we had a terrible snow storm the day I picked it up. Haven't had any problems with the tint so far and that was 12 months ago.

 

You also might consider finding a place that does UV "Baking". The tint shop around my way, sunsation, does it and says that the whole tint process from start to finish is 3 or so hours with the bake time and you can roll down your windows as soon as its done "baking". They even roll it down and test it before they turn the keys over to you. But I'd be on the safe side and wait a week at least.

 

yeh you shouldnt do it in the winter because they might bubble up in the summer due to the windows being cold and then moisture staying under the tint

 

if you wanna do tints in chicago, the best place to do it is on the southside
the guy does it perfect
all the way up to the edge of the window

 

LuXXXz you wouldnt be talking about East Side Window tint. I am stopping overthere this sat to get my G tinted. The guys there know what they are doing and have done my fams cars for YEARS. NEVER any problems.

yeh usually tint places leave a little space from the edge of the window to where the tint starts, but this guys is good he does it to the edge of the window

 

dont tints usually have warranty? if they bubble up then they can just re-tint it!...

 

yeh most do, but you dont want someone to do a shietty job anyways, your car has warranty but do you like taking it to the dealer once something **** up or do you like having a car thats w/out problems

Midco is where I got mine done. He even fixed one of my windows 1 year later after I scratched the tint up for free. Very cool guy. He did mine last winter. I have had 4 vehicles done by him. When you stop in there tell him that one G35coupe owner that got his windows done there said have fun with the back window. You will get a chuckle from him. You can even roll the windows up and down the same day he does the tint. Another south sider right here.
