Effect of sports suspension pkg?
Effect of sports suspension pkg?
For those of you who have driven a G-35 with and without the sports suspension pkg can you tell me if there is a noticable difference and if so what was your opinion? I am considering getting the sports suspension with the aero pkg.
Re: Effect of sports suspension pkg?
I've driven both. I have the sport tuned, since I drive a 6MT sedan, a friend has the 5AT regular suspension. The sport tuned suspension is, as one would expect, a bit stiffer ride and better handling, which I like. The 5AT without sport tuned suspension felt mushier to me.

Re: Effect of sports suspension pkg?
I too have the 6MT with sport package, the ride is firm, but definately not harsh. Firm in the way German cars run firm. Unless you live in an area where the roads are real bad, then go for it. I'm gonna put different rims and snows on it for the winter, so I'm not concerned about winter potholes and road heaves.

I love my sport suspension, as has already been said, it's really tight, not harsh at all. I still marvel about how well it takes the bumps, sport suspension or not.

Re: Effect of sports suspension pkg?
On the flip side, I like the non-sport suspension. It really handles great and, IMHO, doesn't feel mushy. I wanted to leverage the luxury aspect of this sports-luxury sedan. Or course, it isn't as tight as the sport suspension, but it's a very comfortable ride. In fact, here in Portland, OR where the roads can be pretty rough, at times I wish it were even softer. If you want something really tight and high-perf, you may want to bypass the sport package and, instead, spend your money on some aftermarket coilovers. If you want a luxury ride that still handles great, the stock suspension is for you.

Re: Effect of sports suspension pkg?
Depends on how firm you like your ride and where you live. I live in NY and to me the sport suspension was too firm for the roads here on a daily basis. But, you can't go wrong with either one!!!!!!

At first, I thought the sport suspension was too firm, but it really is NOT. After driving a couple of loaners without the sport, I am really glad I got it, especially with the Aero package. And after riding in family or friend's vehicles, when I get back in my G is it so much smoother and responsive. Get them both!

I drove both didn't notice much difference... finally decided not to get the sport suspension to avoid getting the titanium colored center console... IMOP YUCK ...

Same here. Not too much difference in handling. Big difference in that 'titanium' paint!

Re: Effect of sports suspension pkg?
My G has the sport and aero packages and I like them both. When my car was being serviced, the dealership loaned me a G that only had leather and no other options. It rode a bit softer which is nice if thats what you want. I don't feel it lost much handling performance, but the ride was noticable "cushy". Either way, I prefer the sport suspension. And the sport package has slightly different wheels, a little nicer looking in my opinion.

Coupe suspension in the sedan.

Why? The Z is allot more sporting in it's suspension tuning. I didn't notice a stich of difference between the coupe and the sedan with sport, doing the coupe's suspension to me would be pointless if the motivation is for increased performance.

Re: Effect of sports suspension pkg?
driven both. also driven the sport suspension in my G for >24 hours straight 4 times and it feels great. the damping is excellent. I think that since the damping is so good, once the shocks start to go, you will need to replace them sooner than a non sport suspension car.
also, for me the ride is not firm ENOUGH, so I am a little extreme
but again i am 31 years old and have plenty of "football" joints and old injuries, driven EXTENSIVELY long periods of time on the sport suspension and got out of the car each time with NO pain, numbness, etc.
