Bose in dash changer problem
03, G35 Sedan, 6MT, Prem,Winter, Splash.
Just got car on 7/28/03. Really love it.
Yesterday, after loading a CD into the Bose (must wait for the prompts!) display proudly read " CD ERR..."
Contacted Infiniti Customer Service, spoke to Dealer Tech, he reports that is a known issue with Bose 6 disc.
My dealer has contacted me, replacment unit ordered.
My CD's will be sent to a "rescue" facility in CA for retrieval from the bowels of changer.
Hope this is the only hiccup!

Re: Bose in dash changer problem
:/ From what ive read alot of other people are also having this problem.. I have only had it a few times.. and it fixes itself for me.. I think the best thing to do would to try to play origionals in your cd player.. also.. if your playing burned cds.. don't lable them with that adheasive stuff.. just use a marker.. I also use those memorex black cd-rs and my deck seems to love them hope this helps..

The "rescue" facility is Clarion, as they manufacture the head units (both base and Bose versions).
The dealerships are not allowed to stock replacement radios, they can only order them after they've jammed, and they're not allowed to extract the CD's. The dealer's hands are really tied on this one, and Clarion doesn't seem to care, and Infiniti is dropping the ball. I'm on my 4th head unit for this problem. I'm just waiting for it to jam again, and then I'm going to raise a stink.
I think most people with this problem only have to have it swapped out one time.

Re: Hungry CD Changer
i for one say that the in-dash units SUCKS!!! it's one of the only real faults i can find with what otherwise is a great car! i'm on my second one, and it's got 3 out 6 cds stuck in it. i understand the whole "we'll replace for you at no charge" warranty crap, but the truth is, is that it is a real hassle, truly inconvinient for me to have to bring my car to the dealer twice to get the unit fixed. (once so that they can restate the obvious "yup, it's stuck" and then a second time to get the new one installed! I don't think i should have to look at after market options, but it is becoming painfully clear that that is the road i might have to take! sorry if it sounds like im venting, but i am....ok....i'm done now. i still love this car! =)

I have an 03.5. It's supposed to be fixed in the '04 model (even listed as a "new, improved, faster-changing in-dash unit" by marketing), but those new units are currently not available to those of us with repetitive problems.

Re: Bose in dash changer problem
I have read on a 350Z site that Nissan and Bose have recently reached an agreement to do something (I'm not sure what) about the poor Premium Bose system in the 350Z.
We need to get organized and get Nissan to give a similar deal to Infiniti owners. Between the inferior sound and jamming CD's we must have similar problems to what they are supposedly going to remedy for Z owners.

GSG,
I agree. I had high expectations of the Bose audio in the G35, but must say I am a little disappointed by this blemish in what is an otherwise truly fine automobile. Though I haven't encountered any CD jamming issues in the past 3 weeks that I've had my G, I'm anticipating something is going to happen at anytime. The Bose sound (in the G) seems to lack certain clarity. When I tried to compensate for this by raising the treble level, one of the speakers produced a type of metallic hissing noise that sounds very much like an electrical short.
Should we all write to Nissan?

Re: Bose in dash changer problem
I have a 03.5 manual sedan and am receiving my first replacement. Only used standard CDs, never received error codes, and could only load/remove CDs from 2 bays. They said they can't put the improved/faster '04 head unit in my car. If problem happens again, I will demand the '04 unit.
The sound quality, even with the upgraded unit, is very poor. Poorly controlled bass, and high exagerated treble that gives me a headache after 5 minutes. Bose tries making people think they are listening to quality sound, when all they do is turn up the treble and bass, and mid-range is long forgotten. Their aftermarket systems are extremely over-priced for what you get.
I knew this when I bought the car though. I bought for the performance of the car.
