10,000 mile report on my 05 6 spd.

My 6 spd G35 sedan seems like a different animal than it was at 500 miles. The clutch has become much more forgiving in the 1st to 2nd shift (or maybe I have gotten the hang of it) and the engine seems to be more responsive as it breaks in. I have had no rattles whatsoever and the leather on the front seats has no creases yet from sitting. Nothing has not worked as designed other than the radio controls freezing one time forcing me to restart the car to get them working again. I am dissappointed in the navigation software as it is on occusion confusing and sometimes gives inaccurate information (the dealer downloaded a new disc as a possible correction to no avail). I have no paint chips in the front which people seem to complain about and the 05s have no brake dust at all ever. My car burns about a qt of oil in 3K miles so I keep an eye on the oil level.

Other than the navi which may just be the nature of the beast, I have zero complaints about this car which is very unusual for me as I am a chronic complainer. The navi notwithstanding this car is just perfect for me and I really enjoy driving it.

No creases at all? Mine had them after 500 miles, but since then no new ones. I totally agree with the shifting/clutch, I think once the clutch broke in shifting in general is much smoother. Do you have a clear bra? If not, you must be real lucky not to get any paint chips...

My car has 12,300 miles on it. Mine uses no oil, but it has a few small rattles which I plan to fix myself soon. Also I noticed the same things on the clutch and engine as well. If your engine is using that much oil, I would get it checked out. You should not be using any oil period.

I will mention the oil consumption to my dealer when I take her in for an oil change. I kind of thought that 1 qt for 3000 miles (actually it is more like 3/4 of a qt.) was not that abnormal as I had heard other people complain about oil consumption, but I will check it out. Thanks

Actually I just took a hard look at my seat and while the sitting area has zero creases, the driver's right side bolster does has a crease. No clear bra and no paint chips so far. Mr. Big- how do you like your Kazera kzt wheels? I really like the way mine look.

Hi Coridog

I see no improvement in my clutch and am at 9200 miles. The shifting from stop is not at all smooth and 1st to 2nd still drags ... dont see much improvement in pick up also ... bottomline the clutch sucks..

Is there anything wrong with my car ?

Nissan won't consider it abnormal unless it's greater than 1 quart per 1000 miles. Mine burns about a quart every 7500 miles, more than any car I've had before, but it hasn't gotten any worse in the past 45k miles.

I am amazed you guys are burning oil or not reading the dipstick properly. Drain the oil and measure how much you get out of the engine, that is the proper way of telling. The dipstick doesn't accurate read well in this car.

I go 6k on oil changes, and uses 0 oil.

Well, the wheels and tires are great for the winter. I do kind of hate the industrial, truck tire look, but it's functional. Original wheels are the best looking IMHO. Come on spring...

The car should have loosened up somewhat in 9200 miles. The difference in the 1 to 2 shift may be in my case largely attributed to my getting used to the engagement point in the clutch as much as the clutch loosening up, but I don't know.
