Re: 2005 Skyline GTR?
Unfortunately that picture was published by Redline a while ago and carries a disclaimer that it's a computer-generated image...Nobody has come up with an authorized, dead to rights photo of the R35...The Skyline name will be no longer...The G35 is now the Skyline, carrying the moniker of 300 GT in Japan...GT-R will be the designation with Skyline no longer preceding it...The concept car was a huge flop overseas and will not be the elongated 350Z that was unleashed upon a very disappointed Japanese public...Rumors have it that it will be an Infiniti to justify the large price tag to the US public that doesn't know what a GT-R is...It's almost gauranteed to rival the NSX in price and target the likes of Viper, Porsche GT-2, and Ferrari 360...Count on vast array of mods, unlike its competitiors...
Re: 2005 Skyline GTR?
IMHO a super sedan with 300+ hp would sell a hell of lot better in this day and age and do more for Infiniti. With the E 36 M3, BMW sold more sedans in the US than coupes. Bimmerheads still want a four door version of the current M3. Infiniti could easily fill this gap. An ultra high priced two seater may be okay for image and Sh$t for sales. NSX is not exactly flying off the floor in JDM or here. Also the GT-R would have a hell of a time competing in price performance with next gen ZO 6 which is rumoured to have 450+ hp around $50K.
Re: 2005 Skyline GTR?
I agree that the next "supercar" that comes out of Nissan/Infiniti should really be a sedan...The GT-R came in a sedan in the mid-nineties, so it's been done...I mean, the M3 sedan, AMG 500s and 600s, Audi S8 and A8...All excellent, premium sports sedans...I think Nissan and Infiniti have captured today's current sports car market with the Z and G, it's time for a super-sedan in the $50K range...
Re: 2005 Skyline GTR?
A better price point would be ~ $43-$45k. There is a pretty big drop off above this point. Keep in mind this in the price range of a 330i SP (performance package) and just below new Audi S4. The super G would sell like crazy.

Re: 2005 Skyline GTR?
Good point...I was saying that the "Super" G shouldn't go to far over $50K after fees...I think a $45 MSRP for a base and maybe around $50K for some special features would be good...Of course, we're sitting here designing a car that so far we've got no reason to believe is ever coming...I'd like to see them aim it at the Audi A6 RS6, the 450HP twin turbo V8-powered bad boy that's on a limited edition price-point...And the BMW M5...I've driven a lot of hot vehicles and I'm sorry but I love the M5...I just hope Infiniti keeps up the Car of the Year design mentality and gives us a high HP, nimble premium sedan...
