Coupe muffler on sedan

I have been hearing people putting coupe muffler on the sedan.

I am just curious if people that did this mod think its a worthy mod to make to the sedan?

How much is it?

How DIFFERENT does it sound and how DIFFERENT does it perform?

Should I do this mod or use other mods such as the HKS exhuast .......?

Re: Coupe muffler on sedan

YOU HAVE?!?!

HOW?

Spare tire wheel well is smack in the way and theirs some sort of emissions system (evaporative fuel filter and something else I believe) occupying the space to the right of all that.

I don't think anyone has a coupe muffler on a sedan. I've never seen anyone make the claim on either of the main G35 forums. I do read about people using the coupes premuffler in place if the sedan's premuffler, but never the rear section.

Re: Coupe muffler on sedan

The Coupe's Muffler won't fit unless you want to cutout the Sedan's spare tire well.

Recommend you do a search under Tech & Mods. There's a long thread on dual catback exhausts for the Sedan. There's two pictures of Stillen's true dual catback exhaust system prototype on a G35 Sedan.

The exhaust manifolds, downpipes and y-pipe are the same on all three cars... The G35 Sedan, G35 Coupe and the 350Z.
The midpipes are different and the Sedan's muffler is different than the one on the Coupe/350Z.

Well,......none, the cats are the same. The mufflers are different. The sedans is a variable capacity unit, the coupes is not. Also the coupes premuffler is different.

I don't think the 350z cat is any different. However the Coupe has a Different Center Pipe with resonator. On the Sedan it's quite large and Flat. On the Coupe it's small and oval. Some sedan oweners have changed this out and reported exhaust sounds more close to that of the coupe. However this piece from Nissan is Expensive around $300 dollars I believe, Or you coud go to a Muffler shop and have them put in a Glass pack Resonator for Less than $100.
Well Good Luck....

Go with the HKS. I Highly reccomend it. I was the first to put it on my dad's sedan. The Sound is awesome, Especially paired with a CAI I can't wait for HKS to come out with Their Exhaust for the Coupe.......

Re: Coupe muffler on sedan

I have the coupes center section muffler on my sedan, the only thing you lose is a cross support that held the sedan OEM in place. You don't cut the wheel or anything like that. I think that my Infiniti Dealership did it for about $180. There is a huge diffrence in size of the sedan vs. coupe center section, maybe 30-40lbs.
