Infinity 60.7cs + 62.7i

Just installed these speakers was really easy took about 2 hours total time to do the whole install. Really didn't run into problems until I got the back speakers I had to drill new holes since the stock speakers at 6" or 5.75" maybe.

PICS

Nice install - was thinking about ordering these myself. These are the 2-Ohm speakers correct...? As I understand it, 2005 and > model year w/Bose systems have 6 1/2" speakers in all the doors. This is off the Bose spec sheet for the G35.

Q:

- Are you using the factory HU - how does it sound over the stock speakers..?

- Changed out the tweeters as well - pics..?

Yes Im using a stock h/u. Also these are 2ohm speakers soo you do not lose any power or volume compared to stock. I also replaced the tweeters also. These sound amazing compared to the bose speakers. Im thinking bout dynamating around the speakers b/c I hear a little rattle from the back speaker. But other than that they sound really good and were very simple to install

Did it require any spacers or anything?

I thought they required spacers, but it looks like it bolted right on up with no problems... except for drilling new holes for the rear speakers.

My front speakers came with that White Spacer but I talked to someone with a coupe and said they didnt have the white spacer soo if you have the spacer you can use it.

Is is ok to be using a 2 ohm speaker with the Bose? Wouln't it be looking for a 4ohm speaker causing it to prossibly overheat. On the flipside if the Bose is 2ohm stable, then the setup should be a bit louder now. Do you hear a difference in volume?

Thanks for the post you've given me hope. I was planning to do a complete amp/speaker overhaul and upgrade, but I scrapped it since it would have cost me about $3k-$4k to do. Maybe I can get away with a mild upgrade for now.

The Bose amp is 2ohm, soo you dont lose any volume sounds a little bit louder. The stock speakers are also 2ohm. If you replace with 4ohm speakers you cut your volume almost in half. But the stock 200 watt amp sounds pretty good. Sounds like you have woofers up front like in the back.

And the Infinity Kappas are one of the few speakers that come in 2ohms.

I have done this install in a few Gs and a few 350Zs. The newer Gs have a spacer that is part of the speaker. So if you have a newer car, like my 2005, you will need spacers such as Metra part # 82-4300 1" spacer ring. You need to redrill holes, but they fit like a charm.

ohhhh, I did not realize our setups were 2 ohms, I was going to ask if there was a particular reason the Infinity's were chosen and that's a great one. What about the sub, is that also a 2 ohm. Did you change it? If not, does it seem as if the sub is a little drowned out or inadequate with the new setup?

Thanks!

I also have a Alpine Type R but without it on everything sounds good including the stock sub. The Bose Amp does not send as much bass to the back speakers as the front speakers, soo the back sounds awesome with the stock sub.

Im pretty sure you could buy the front spacers from Infiniti and install them in the newer models that do not have spacers.

Just to clarify, are you refering to the '05 coupes only? Do I need these spacers if I have a '05 sedan?

Thanks.

Coupes and sedans need the spacers. I have done a few new Zs and they need the spacers too. In the older Gs, the spacer was serperate from the OEM speaker. So, you could simply unscrew the speaker and install a new speaker. On the 05s, they made the spacer an integral part of the speaker. So, when you unscrew the speaker, the spacer comes with it.
