Tire Pressure Monitoring System "BROKE"

I have done some extensive searching, but couldn't find the definate answer I need. With Key On Engine Off, should or shouldn't the low tire pressure light be on? If so, my light doesn't come on. Is there something I can do to reset the system? The car is stock, just bought it a few days ago. Still has the Goodyear Tires w/20k on them. I'm sure I will probably have to take it back to the dealer. Just making sure I'm not over looking anything here. Thanks!

I don't remember either...but it should say in your handbook which of the lights come on, then go out with the key in the ON position.

If not, then the dealer should know.

If there is a problem with the system, I understand that he can re-initialize the system to make it right.

the car comes with a manual for a reason...."the low pressure warning system will activate only when the vehicle is driven at speeds above 20 MPH. Also, this system may not detect a sudden drop in tire pressure." All manuals can be accessed throught the infiniti website under "ownership"

On my 2004, the Tire Monitor light goes on when I turn the key, along with the VDC Off light, then very quickly goes off.

The manual, on page 2-9, says that that light, and several others, come on briefly when you turn the key to on. They do mean briefly. Enjoy the car!

You could deflate a tire down to 20psi to know for sure whether they work. It doesn't take much of a drop for these things to go off.

I finally remembered to check the light in person today. It stays on for 1-2 seconds as vegas said above. If you are not looking at the left lower side of the dashboard when you turn it to ON, you'll probably miss its short glow.

So what has been the outcome?

I was looking in the wrong part of the cluster. It comes on, figured that out after I dropped one tire down below 25psi, then I heard the 10sec beep and noticed the light. It is all good. Thanks for the replies.

Not sure about other years, but on 05's with no TPMS in your wheels the warning light will come on about 45 minutes into your drive. IIRC, no audible signal which is A Good Thing.

Same with my '04...only the light comes on...and after about the same amount of driving as you said. Once you turn your car off, it resets and will come on again after driving another 45 min. or so.
