Smile looking for a rear view mirror....

need a NON-HONELINK/DIMING rear view mirror, specifically the arm that holds it between the mirror and windshield, to help design a radar detector mount for mike. so, if you upgraded and have the old, trashed your car, or know someone, it would be appreciated. the bracket it oval and about 3" in circumference. please pm me-we can mail it to mike so he can fabricate a radar mount for us non-premies. thank you!!!

Mike only has the design for the homelink mirrors, but that design doesnt work with the basic ones since the posts are bigger. If someone can tell me how to easily take the mirror of the windshield, I'll measure mine up. I can't really get good readings off calipers because of the odd angles, and because the post is squarish with rounded corners and not perfectly round.

hmm

mike, who makes mounts (doing a search) doesnt have the specs for non-premium mirrors. his mounts work with a wide range of detectors, but not with all mirrors. do you happen to know any other mount makers?

his site states for 3/4" diameter mirrors only. he lists a g35, but im sure it doesnt work for non-prem. mirrors. i could email this guy, but truely like mikes design better.

radar mount

well, the mount has nothing to do with the wiring-ive been reading a ton of site as to weather to place the detector high (under mirror) or low (on dash), and there is no definitive answer. so, because this is such a pretty car, the last thing i want is velcro on the dash or suction cups on the glass. i am going to hardwire it and show pics/instructions when done, after this mount issue is resolved. im going up the headliner, over to the pillar, down to the fuse box. bought the wire to hardwire it on ebay for my bel detector. but you can make it yourself if your good with a soder gun.

Yea, I realize it has nothing to do with the mount, just a related question. I wouldnt mount it on the mirror and have the coiled wire running down to the cigarette lighter plug.. lolol

And your right about the velcro. I like the hard mount idea.
