rear view mirror and radar together

ok-heres the deal:
my car does not have the premium mirror
i will buy one
now...
i want to hardwire them both to the fuse box
im ok with that
question:
can i "y" off one power/ground wire for both the mirror and detector?
is a 3 amp fuse ok for both?
why does:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Gente...temZ8020502858

do i need 2 power wires-one for homelink, one for auto dim
is it ok if they are always on?
(ill turn off detector when im done driving)
i just wanna knock out both wiring/make it clean install at the same time

ps-i dont want use the invisicord-not necessary

thanks for help-
rob

There is no wiring up in the roof that will shut off with the ignition. I had to wire my radar into a hot wire which is always on behind the map lights. The powersave on the car shuts my radar off after a short period so it doesn't pull on the battery.

So you will need to run the new wire from the fuse box up to the roof and into your new mirror. And yes you can split it. 3 amps is more than enough for both items.

On my 04, I wired it to the sunroof motor wire harness. powers off after the key is turned off and the door is opened. Took me about 45 min (most of which was probing wires to find which was 12v with ignition)

hmm

does my car have powersave too? or is that part of some other wiring? (audio equipment, etc.) couldnt i just do an add a circuit to the accessory fuse? (so it would shut off like the cig adapter in the arm rest?) what guage wire do you suggest? 18? (i think like the end of the add a circuit) i was just going to use phone line w the bel detector and splice it in...
