Question Should using my A/C compressor double the interior noise level?

After having my first G for 2 days, and having it promptly totalled by a hit and run drunk driver, I am now on my second 2003 G35. I really don't remember what the first G's a/c compressor sounded like, but the one I have now is really loud. I would say turning it on doubles the noise at idle that penetrates through the firewall into the cabin.

Descriptions of sound are really difficult to explain, but I know what a bad bearing sounds like, and it doesn't sound quite that bad, but it is an unpleasant whine. When you turn off the compressor, my car super quiet at idle, but with it on its annoying.

I did a search and looked through the 6 pages of threads dealing with compressors but didn't find what I was looking for. Simply,

Is your compressor noticable? Does using it double the interior noise level? I don't want to bring it in to the dealer to have them say...all compressors make that much noise.

The only way I know my AC is on . . . Is by feeling the cold air or observing the tach reving a bit higher. Other than that the AC system should not make itself known via loud compressor noises.

There's a service bulletin for early G's for this issue.
Check for service buttetin #02056 in this link:

An additional link to Infiniti's website with a more readily available explanation:

This forums is awesome!

Excellent. Looks like that is it. My build date was 8/02. the TSB was issued for vehicles made before 11/10/02. I'll take it in and have them fix it- Thanks guys.
