Installed the Stillen CAI today...
Hello all,
Just back from installing the Stillen CAI. I am no mechanic and took me about 2 hours to make sure things are done right. Spent at least 1/2 hour trying to get the bottom bolt on. Forget about it...unless you have hands of a kid size, no way jose!. I left it alone because it's stable enough I think without it.
Impressions...it was raining outside so I didn't WOT that much. When it's up there 4,000 rpm+ you feel the roar but not as loud as I would like it to be. Will try it again later. Overall it's pretty nice.
As for the power loss, power gain stuff, have no idea, just did it for the sound.
There are still room by the ac line so no worries. However, there is no a bigger gap between the stillen box and the ztube (not big gap but a little). Whereas before with the stock box and ztube it was tight.
Also, I try resetting ECU but I following those pedal methods but I can never get the Check Engine to blink at the end so I probably never reset the ECU. I guess it'll have to learn it by itself.
Here's a few pictures of them...time for lunch!

Reset your ecu one of two ways.
Disconnect your battery for 2 hours.
OR this other method worked for me on the G35 and Titan.
Remove both terminals from the battery. And touch them together. Not the BATTERY TERMINALS, but the ones that go into the car itself. This immediately drains the power from the car and seems to reset the ecu.

When you say disconnect for 2 hours. Is it just negative? or both?
The terminals are that round metal thing that you pick up when you loosen the screw right? remove both of them and let them both touch right?

Hey from this picture if you look at item#13, that's the rubber ring that was re-used for the stillen cai but the picture said to replace it every time you disassemble. When you take the stillen out to clean you have to replace it?

Here is a crude picture I did for you of the battery to give you a idea what I am talking about.
HAHA...thanks for that picture.
At first I was thinking to use that round grayish terminal to touch each other.
The saying goes...Picture is worth a 1,000 words !!!
When I aligned the tube to the stillen box I didn't pay much attention to that ring. Hopefully it was sitting in it's place when I tighten the bolts. I guess I'll find out the next time I take out the filter.

just kidding. but if you wanted a louder sounding CAI you should have gone with the INJEN CAI. its prettier too! however, you might want to try and remove the box and it will be louder if you replace the cone filter with one that can breath more. just a suggestion! RX

Might be a bit better than exposing the colorful, silver, or whatever injen intake color when I bring my car to service at the dealer.

But Stillen is just more stealth looking I think. That plus it has a box which probably keeps the hot air away better than injen.
I just installed my INJEN SP ( the newer CAI they have, RD is the old one ) i must say that it does produce more power, i drive my car everday and drive it alot. I am 18 and for me mods are important because i plan on keeping my car for long long time. It produces noticable power for me and my friends even noticed it, we be rollin and we be rollin faster now lol.
Get what ever intake you like there all good.
