G35 vs. Lexus SC430

I was on my way to work last week and I pulled up to a Lexus SC430. I turned my VDC off just in case. I've seen this guy before on this stretch of road, but I wasn't sure that he wanted to race. So, since I wasn't sure, I decided that when the light turned green, that I would give it all that I had. The light turned green and he did TRY to race. With his torquey V8 and high horsepower, I thought that I would lose to him. Instead I have a half car length on him right from the get go. By the time that I had hit 85 mph I was about 1 1/2 car lengths on him. I misshifted though, trying to go into fourth gear and he caught up to me just in time for us to brake for the next light. It felt good, except for the misshift. My question is, should have I beat him by more car lengths, or should have I lost? All responses are appreciated.

They both are in the same performance league; it was pretty much a driver’s race. But if you have a 6MT than the G is faster assuming that you are a skilled driver.

The lowest 0-60 time I’ve seen for a Lexus SC430 is about 6.1s just like the automatic G35 sedan. I think the fastest 0-60 for the G35 6MT was 5.7s.

I read the stat recently from one of the auto mag, 0-60 SC430 is actually slower than G35 auto on numbers regardless its V8. I was surprised too

my friend has one. sometimes i win sometimes i dont. its very close. the higher the speed the better chance he has of beating you. you got to like how a v6 can keep up with a V8.

The SC430 has more horsepower but are much heavier then the G35, so that's why both of these cars are bout the same 0-60!!

I'm dissapointed that the car of many peoples dreams is as slow as a 6 cylinder - or maybe i am thrilled that my v-6 infiniti rocks. For 70k i want faster car through...how about 350hp v-8 0-69 in 5 secs. o/w That is best car out there from japan maybe - we shouldn't compare much else to the 430.

Re: G35 vs. Lexus SC430

You guys want a rocket import... Try driving a MB C32 AMG! I got a ride in one last weekend and man, for 51K that thing hauls a$$ like the ole T/A's from the 80's! With ESP and traction control like on the G, this thing hauls, is stable, and looks a little cool. If i could take the C32 engine and put it in the G tomorrow, I would, even if it cost 20k! The M C32 AMG does 0-60 in 4.9 and has 369 HP at 6000 RPM and 339 ft lb tourque at 4400-6000 RPM. It squeals in all gears with the ESP on and it gets about the same gas milage as the G, certified LEV. It's a helical supercharged 3.2 V6! Wanna talk aobut keeping up with V8's, it can blow away a lot more than our G's. Germans have some sleek engineering with this car! It's competition is the Bimmer M series line. This costs almost the same as a M3 and looks better! It comes packed and has very few options since it's so loaded to begin with. The M3 is almost all a la carte so you'll probablypay more for the M3. The new M3's will beat this though but also cost about 10K more!!!!

'03.5 G35 BS Sedan (I love that acronym!)
Stillen Intake, 350Z duct
Hyper-Ground Kit
Lowered!
Bulbs all around!
Splash Guards - Aero
Need Exhaust, Twin Turbo or NOS!

Re: G35 vs. Lexus SC430

I think the G35 just needs a supercharger and all the regular engine bolt-ons, then i'll probably be in the lower 5's seconds.

No more moving parts please - I want the V-8 5.7 from the Titan stuffed in there and breathing well.
