Weird.. aside from the rattles mentioned on the TSBs, I've never had any problems with my G35 and I have nearly 12,000 miles on it... Good luck with this issue... I'm happy enough with my '05 X that I might trade it for the '07 G35x if it's better (and I'm sure it will be!).

..but hay, at least I have an awsome Bose system
Just curious, but what is the build date on your G35? Aside from this, a few minor rattles and a sticking seek switch are the only issues I've had with my '05

It's a late build '05 [July] - and the dealer has been fixing the issues w/out complaints, which is the only reason why I've stuck around. The dealer has already hinted that if I like the new '07's, since I have a signature lease, then I can wash my hands of the current one and into another. I'm sure this is also because of my current dissatisfaction w/the car.

Might actually go for the Coupe considering the photos that were posted here - but if the sedan is taking the coupe lines, all the better.

Had the door handle fixed, but now there's another problem: The black on the door pannel does not match the rest of the blacks in the car - it's a different shade of black.

...perhaps Microsoft had something to do w/the manufacture of the car - fixing one issue creates another issue

Geez, I hope you mentioned this before you left the lot, I would have if it's that obvious!

I took my car in today to have a service engine soon light checked, and asked them to recheck my door panel, damn, the loaner I have is really bad on the door panel, build date 10-04, I guess Infiniti has a defect there.

Having had my 35x for almost 10 months I've been very pleased with the build quality and how tight everything is. And I'm also very impressed with the fit-and-finish of both the exterior and interior. And of course on the mechanical side, there isn't much else on the market that's any better for the money. This thing still puts a silly-axx grin on my face everytime I get inside and fire it up.

But as others have said here, and in other threads, anything massed produced is subject to defects ... regardless of the manufactuer. And it always seems as if Lexus is held up as the best-of-the-best. Notwithstanding all of the tranny issues that have been reported on the ES and RX ... looks like there are "build" issues with the GS now.

Was surfng through Club Lexus earlier today to see what's up with them, and found this on the GS thread (actually there are several regading squeaks, rattles, popping sounds, etc.).

NOT what I expect from a Lexus!
During the 5K service, I had to have the dealership fix the passenger door panel on our '06 GS300 (which I now refer to as "Snap, crackle & pop"), which was about 1/2" pulled away from the door, near the dash. The result was some plastic-to-plastic scrubbing between the door panel and dash. I also complained about a faint rattling sound coming from inside the passenger door that was driving me crazy whenever I rode in that seat. They fixed the panel, but claimed not to hear the rattle. Our car now has about 9K miles. Last week I started to hear a popping, creaking sound from the dash/windshield area that may be what others are hearing in another thread, so the car 'pops' every time I drive over a sharp bump. Well... tonight, as we left home to go for dinner, the area along the front edge of the closed sunroof started creaking so loud it sounds as if it will fall in on us! We bought a Lexus to AVOID the dealer's workshop! I'm PRAYING that I get a JD Power survey in the mail for this car

PS: Did I mention it takes 45 minutes to get to the dealer's workshop?

No offense to any of our Lexus friends ... and oh, sorry for hijacking the thread

Haha, we just purchased another lexus rx last week and lexus is 10x better than an infiniti. Nothing beats the excellent build quality of these cars. The only reason I did not go with lexus as did most people here, they are not as much fun to drive as my Infiniti.

Don't agree one bit here, I know a couple of people who own Lexus, and they are always complaining about things like that! Point is, every car is going to experience some ticks and creaks, even Lexus. Lexus owners are brainwashed! 10X, my a$$! Give me a break, you come on here claiming to own an Infiniti, then you bad mouth it.

ABQ, do you have a link to more information about this defect? I searched the sedan forums with 'door defect' but didn't find anything useful.

Is it a TSB for a structural issue or pop/creaks/rattles?

No, I don't have a link, the dealer told me about, they replaced mine in December, wasn't actually broken, just felt loose.

I'm not sure he's badmouthing Infiniti considering he owns one, and considering he mentions that Infiniti's are fun to drive. I also have an RX330 '05 and ya there are some rattles and concerns - no one is saying Lexus are immune to problems, at least I never did. I've had the notorious tranny problems w/mine and I have rattles - all fixed by the dealer the same as w/my Infiniti. Nevertheless, my RX330 is a world better on the inside including the Audio system. Take a good look at the G35 interior: way too many parts used to assemble the dash, hard plastic parts all over that do not match in color, irregular gaps, cheep plastic especially in the vent assembly - it is just a bad design all around and reminiscent of what GM does. Go look at the IS350 interior, or the Audi A4 - if you really think the G35's interior matches up, then I can see why your adamant about defending your position. But even Infiniti themselves had admitted to the design fault of this interior, and that is it "falls short give the recent competition". Plus, every single publication that has reviewed this car, complained about the dash assembly while also praising the drivetrain - same thing is going on here. Hence why so much effort is going into the new interior for '07.

You may not agree, and that's ok, but to others he has a point and that's his right. And besides, I've never had a door handle rip off from normal use, even on the American cars I've owned.

It was just the 10x better comment that got to me, after that thread about the problems with the GS that was posted, plus he didn't say the interior, just the car in general. BTW, all the parts on my dash match colorwise. Not sure I see the GM connection though, my dad has a Buick, and the dash is pretty cheaply made.
