"rev up" engine questions

OK this may sound wierd, I know I have the "rev up" engine (05 6MT Sedan), but what is it. What's the difference between the "rev up" model and the pre "rev ups"? Also, this may tie into a question I had as to the differences between the 6MT @ 298hp and the AT @ 280hp, where is that 18hp coming from? (different exhaust, intake, etc).

Thanks

Chris

The "rev up" is just a way to differentiate the very small difference between the two engines. Basically losing some torque down low for a slight hp gain at the top end. This is a marginal difference in real world performance, but because some mods are made specifically for 6MT engines vs autos or 03/04 models, the community came up with the differentiators. The good news is with the 6MT you can throw on an MREV plenum spacer if you want

As to whether the differences are due to exhaust, intake, ecu mapping, etc .. it depends on who you ask. And be sure to wear a flame suit in asking which one is faster ... haha

Thanks... I may eventually look in the "mrev" kit. I can say the the 6mt is pleanty fast for me, though a little more torque might not be bad.

A little more torque is never, ever bad.

Especially with rwd.... heck my 2k2 6spd max has more torque than my 05 6mt g35 (albeit about 5 more) ... Nissan underrated the torque for the max at 240 when it should have been at least 265 given the losses... most 2k2-2k3 maximas dyno'd a higher torque number than hp number... but that became the double edge sword being that there was mad wheel hop and torque steer off the line on hard launches....hope this isn't hijacking the thread...the mrev spacer is one major mod to save up for now, since i'm saving forthe stillen sway bars and window tinting...

Does the Mrev mod really add that much power? Will I really feel the difference?

It may be better than spending $900-$1200 to get a catbat exhaust system just to get a better exhaust note...this is the grey area of aftermarket mods....
