Re: Shake at 90

My dealer has that machine and it didn't solve my problem at all. They have replaced all 4 tires and turned the rotors (sure I'll be arguing with them when they warp) balanced the whole thing three times.. and I am bringing it back again today...

Man I had that IS300 all lined up and I made the mistake of going for a test drive in a G35... now I am stuck with a 32K car that shakes... This stinks!

Re: Shake at 90

have them put 4 diff wheels from another G on it and take it for a spin...this can be figured out and you will be thanking the car gods you didn't get the tame *** lexus. You can admire them in the future from your rear view. Have you contacted corp Infiniti?

Re: Shake at 90

omg... you'd rather have the is300 because it doesn't shake. Haha that's the lamest excuse i've ever heard of why you would get rid of your g35.

You don't deserve to have one. Go buy the 4 door 215hp auto

Re: Shake at 90

You should try driving my car with the steering wheel shaking in your hand... Who cares how much horsepower it has I don't even want to drive it on the highway ... if all I cared about was speed and power I would have bought a Neon SRT-4 or a Mitsu Evolution... I wanted power/luxury in a refined sedan... I haven't gotten that yet.

I brought it back to the dealer this week and took a mechanic for a ride... he could see the steering wheel moving at 65 which was good.

If you can reproduce it for the dealership, that's good. Now, make them give you a rental and don't take your car back until they fix it.

Re: Shake at 90

Yes last time they offered to send a mechanic out with me when I picked up the car but I didn't have time.. I figured you say it's fixed I'll take your word for it.

This time I am not taking it back until it's fixed.

Re: Shake at 90

I've got the same problem but mine shakes when I'm around 60-65 and then it goes away. Spoke to the dealer, they checked the tires and ofcourse, they did not see a problem. No big deal they said. ??????

Re: Shake at 90

Justing adding my 2 cents. I've had a vibration in the steering wheel/driver seat/front driver door since 11,000 km's. Took it to the dealer they performed an idle air volume learning procedure. That did nothing. Brought it back and they told me that the vibration was normal. Whatever. Planning to take it back next oil change after I do some more research on Freshalloy for other people in my situation. Love the car but this vibration sh#t has to go.

Re: Shake at 90

Well I will say that I have driven 3 loaners and the two cars I test drove and all G35's have a road feel when you get above 60mph.

I personally don't have a problem with that. I know it's a sport sedan and you should be able to feel the road a bit. But my car is different I have visible shaking of the wheel at certain speeds. When I get on the highway in the morning sometimes the whole car shudders... it's terrible!

Oh well it's going back in tomorrow ... crossing my fingers!

Re: Shake at 90

That just has to be a wheel balancing problem!
If not, then there is something seriously wrong with
your G.

Re: Shake at 90

Taking it in today so I should find out this week... but they swapped out the tires and have balanced it three times already. They have that Hunter machine everyone raves about.

I think it's gotten worse since they gave me the car back last time... don't see how balance could get worse. I think there might be something wrong with the steering.

For the people who Infiniti told them the vibration is normal... did your loaner vibrate? My dealer gives out G35's as loaners and they have all driven fine... and I have told them that it's only mine ... lucky me

Re: Shake at 90

Sounds like you might also want to file a complaint with the US National Highway Transportation Safety folks because 1) car mfrs are required to submit early warning reports of problems to them and 2) they investigate consumer reports of problems and list active investigations and complaints in their online databases. I searched and didn't find anything that described exactly what you describe, although there are a number of reports about auto tranny problems, suspension problems.

Re: Shake at 90

Going to pick up my car tomorrow.. fingers crossed they say it's fixed... btw they turned my rotors so I am like what happens when they warp... already got the service manager to promise to give me new rotors under warranty when I need brake pads... that's cool. He said this car already has known issues with rotor warping... as if I didn't know

Re: Shake at 90

Assuming that when you get the car back, you still have a vibration, here's a few things to try:

-Swap wheels and tires with another G. If the dealer won't oblige you, I guarantee another member of this board will be happy to. Sometimes, even tires that are in balance can have sufficient defects, or out-of-roundness to cause a vibration. As can a rim that's been made a bit square.

-A warped brake rotor can also cause a vibration while not braking, but usually, when they are this bad, you will have alot of shake while braking.

-If that dosn't solve the problem, you should look deeper. I once had a BMW with a warped front wheel hub. It caused shaking at highway speed. It took a long time to discover this problem for sure.

-Make sure your front alignment is correct.

-A bad front shock can cause a vibration at highway speed, as can a bad ball joint or tie rod end.
