Mine is placed to the left of the mirror with suction cups. It's wired directly to the fuse block with a seperate fuse inline. The only problem is I can use my visor.

i have an x50. when i really need it, i put it almost in the middle between the dash and the rearview mirror. i think that it should be higher than the height of your rear deck so that if a laser is shooting at you from the back, it can pick it up (if it picks it up at all)

also, because i got a cheapy 2005 coupe, and infiniti is so cheap it doesn't have powered mirrors standard, i can't hardwire my x50 to the mirror. i have to find some other way.

any ideas??

I wouldn't worry about the laser. When it goes off it's already too late. I put my x50 on top of the a/c temp display with a piece of padding underneath for rattles. It picks up Ka (CHiPpers) for far..far away. Covers both front and back. Obviously center of the windshield is more effective, but I just don't like to advertise it to passing by cops.

Mounted at the X and the cord is tucked in the red crevice.

Would like a cordless one, but this is good for now.

Good observation and I have read that site QA in the past. The good news, which may not be obvious from the pic, is that the detector is completely below the tint strip and not looking through it. Another reason not to worry is because it's laser detection that might be affected and if you get hit with laser, you're dead already. Mostly the laser detector goes off when I'm behind a Chevy Trailblazer. Their rear high mounted stop lamp sets it off. Or when a recent Mercedes or Infiniti FX trys to trail me with their laser cruise control. I always give them a good reason to go around me.

I agree it sucks. I'm considering turning off laser altogether.

I get laser picks once in a while, but I'm convinced they are due to non-police applications. For example, you will get a laser pick everytime you go through the Baltimore Harbour Tunnel (895, not Fort McHenry). There are obviously no cops shooting laser in a freakin tunnel.

My laser isn't turned off only because I rarely hear it. But turning it off wouldn't bother me a bit, cause these detectors, no matter which brand, aren't going to save you. The only way to protect yourself is with a good jammer.

I haven't seen anyone put it where I do so I'll throw it out there.

I put mine in the upper left corner of my windsheild with suction cups that came with it. I put it there because I was sick of the cord hanging all over my dash (didn't know about the hard wire at the time). So in the corner I was able to run the cord down the column, under the steering wheel tilt area, and down to the driver side cigarette lighter. You only see the cord about 2-3 inches between the column and tilt area.

I was worried about the signal getting blocked so I did a test. Everyday I pass a spot where the detector goes off at a consistent 2 bar KA. Believe it or not the signal got BETTER! I now have 3 bars in that spot. The old location was a few inches below the mirror. I know that doesn't jive with other theories but it's true...I don't have a reason to BS.

I really like it there. It's unobtrusive and easier to read in the sunlight.

PS I have the laser blocker and it doesn't f'ing work...don't believe the hype I have a ticket to prove it!

Passive laser blockers do not work, I agree. But active laser jammers do work. But they're expensive, and most folks don't consider laser to be enough of a threat in their area to justify the cost.

Laser is a big threat in Florida. I put off buying one for that exact reason. But the only two tickets I have recieved since I bought my V1 were both from laser. So I just bought a M20 Blinder for less than I paid for my last ticket.
