i use the Blinder M20 lasser jammers, and they rock. just saved me again, on my way to work. most of the time, my bel985 doesn't pick up the laser, but the Blinders do. even when the Bel 985 does, it is after the Blinders......
i keep my detector about an inch above the center of the dash, as recommended by Radar Roy. i think it looks better there too.

I keep mine 1/2" or so just above the dash too....IMO, the mirror mount look is way too invasive for me.... I have mine directly above the drivers side car plug cigarette lighter thingy (forget the name), just to the left of the compass....within arm's reach...I like it.
Real curious to hear how everyone mounts their detectors, too.
Everything I've read says to either mount them in the grille, or as high on the windshield as you can get (but not so high that you cut off the receiver for signals from the rear, which is determined by every car's roofline, back window size, and any obstructions between the rear window and the detector).
The grille is a "stealth mount", but eliminates receiving any signal from the rear, so you'd need a separate rear mounted receiver for that type of coverage.
Interesting that "Radar Roy" says to mount it low on the dash (an inch above the dash in the center), just because everything I've read says that the lower the detector is mounted on the windshield, the greater the chance that the radar signal will bounce off the hood and go over the detector without registering, which is why they recommend mounting as high on the windshield as practical. Not saying "Radar" is wrong - I don't know enough about the topic to have an opinion. I just got my info from Passport.
C'mon G35 drivers, what do you know about radar mounting points, pro's and con's ??

I have a Bel, so far so good. I have it in the middle of the windshield a few inches under the mirror - I have always read to keep them above the headrests with a clear view of the sides and rear to be as affective as possible.
Unless its a state law thing, whats the point of trying to hide it down by the dash?

I have mike's mount for my V1. works great. Only thing is, you might want to paint the metal parts black. that's what I did. also got the conceal display hardwired. anyone in norcal needs help... let me know.
There won't be a noticeable difference high or low. So put it where you like it best. I have a Bel 985 (same as Escort 8500) that I like to rest right on the dash. That lets the detector be rock solid with no bouncing, and with one push of a button and two seconds its out of site when I park somewhere that I don't want it seen. I actually have everything I need to hardwire it up top, and I've decided against it so far because of how easy it is with my current setup.
Whats wrong with this?

K40 undetectable GS430, I will have it instaled in the G one day or another
the switch to change sensitivity is located under the steering colum.
It flashes its lights and makes an audio warning.

I have my passport mounted near the rearview mirror using the suction cups. I have the detector hardwired into into my mirror using an invisicord. I am considering Mike's Mount but haven't purchased one yet.
I like my detector up high because the tint strip almost obscures it from the outside. In addtion, with the invisicord I was able to hardwire without cutting into any wires or running extra cord down the pillars, etc.
In my opinion, the ebay mount in the first post is pretty gaudy. Plus it looks like that mount would interfere with reception more than whether the detector was mounted high or low. Why not just use the factory suctions cup if you are planning on a windshield mount?
