I would think that by the looks of your air filter, just changing to a new paper filter would give you some gains....its pretty dirty man - ever change it? or is it still the factory one....just wondering.

Heat is no good. Leave the duct on. It gains nothig.

I've done data logs of the air intake temp and I see about ~10 degree higher intake temps at a stop. Once rolling, there's no difference. At the track, I was no slower. Actually, I ran better (14.32 vs 14.49), but I attribute the improvement strictly to better conditions.

----

10 degree higher temp at a stop takes away power. The hotter the intake temp, the less power you have. But you ran a better time only due to conditions not the intake.

Like I said, do not remove the duct. There is a reason its there. Remove it at your own risk of losing power.

That's because you don't have a Z-tube....with the stock tube and those two large resonators, they are robbing your sound from you! I still can't get over how much my car roars now @ WOT.....it's actually so loud now, I've been noticing some vibration @ WOT . Once I throw the HKS muffler on, I may put the duct back on.

The point was I lost no power and I pulled 2.15 60 foot with the duct removed. If having the duct removed made my car feel less powerful, then I would have put it back on. I had GG wires for a week and they made no difference, so I took them off and sold them.

I haven't read about people "taking them out", as they are attached to the tube; however, I have read of one member using exhaust patches and applying them on the interior of the tube....this closes off the two resonators port openings located within the tube. I myself am not knowledgeable in this, so I wouldn't know how to do it....I'd spend the $80 and buy the Z-tube if I wasn't sure. FYI - the 1st resonator is that plastic piece on the top (it's visible in the picture above...it's the flat plastic piece just above the flex boot). The 2nd one is on the lower part of the tube (I don't believe you can see it without taking the tube out)...but it's HUGE! (extends 6-8" down into the engine bay)...I couldn't believe it when I removed mine. Good luck.
