To get the duct off, all you have to do is take a phillips head screwdriver and push in the top of each pin and simply remove the duct and pins at the same time. It takes all of 10 seconds.
As for sound, I noticed a HUGE difference in induction noise after doing this. I do have a Z-pipe though. My father and wife were on board the day I removed it and they got a look when I went a little WOT getting on the highway. My old man said, "did you put an exhaust on the car?" and my wife said, "how much did this mod cost us?"

Dave, I think you put the piece of foam around the opening when you took your "power duct" piece out......did you notice a difference with the foam piece there?
I know some have said putting the foam piece there will keep the ram air setup? But with those foam pieces, aren't you restricting air flow? But without the form pieces, you're taking in hot engine air......
Just wondering if I should go with or without the foam piece around the opening?

Not that I really need to do it now since I have the Stillen CAI installed but it's good to know since I couldn't stick a screwdriver inside and pop it inside out. Took me forever last time (yeah I am stupid ) so I ended up sticking a flat head from the top and just flip the pin up (made some scratches of course)

Never though of that since everyone was saying to push it from inside out.
I gotta try that next time. THANKS!
