Weakness/Possible Default in our suspension

Ok... i go to get Stillen Cross Drilled Rotors put on my car- i drop her off and i get a phone call 20 min later the second the guy gets her on the lift. He says to me that i ahve an impacted ball joint on one of my rear control arms. I was like what the hell... heres the thing, i have 18500 miles on my car but the rear suspension is all BRAND new. I had it replaces after i got in an accident. I took it to the auto body guy who did the work for me and he explained it to me like this. The cars suspension is not like most cars, its alluminum, its good for light weight and speed, but not for strength and endurance. I remember while gassing it off the line a week earlier a hit a hole in the road while i was at peak torque in first gear, he said this was probably wat did it. Our car is not the only car to have issues with this certain beemers and mercedes do as well. It may not effect you now but in the long run it may become an issue for some, especially if you have teh eboch kit or rims. The stiffer the ride the harsher it is on the suspension.

So then do you know of any stronger points in the 350z suspension? I thought the only difference was the spring/shock combo.

regardless of that the heart of the suspension, the controll arm and the parts around it like the thing that hooks in to the rotor and the other components are all still weaker alluminum

i hit a curb with my passenger rear tire wheel and bent up a control arm. It wasnt even a high speed or sudden impact thing, I always wonder about that part that had to be replaced and always try to notice and nuiances in the drive.

I gues I'll be watching potholes and speedbumps even more than I do now.

Eibach's are NOT firmer than the stock springs and frankly with their progressive design part of the suspension's travel is powered by a softer than stock spring rate. Any handling gain's from them, does NOT come from being stiffer, cause they not. Only the rear peak rate on the coupe application is stiffer than the stock rear spring rate (463lbs vs 419lbs) It's coming from a lower center of gravity. Ok, all this brings me to this point on your topic. Being that the Eibachs use a softer than stock initial spring rate that transition's to a rate that's almost identical to stock, that also has a inch less travel cause their lower to. That is going to place owners that have them a greater risk of running out of suspension travel and bottoming if they not carefull and theirby suffering possible damage.
