Today I installed 350z springs up front using OEM sport struts and G35c springs in the rear using OEM sport struts. The coupe midpipe was also installed. Install time for everything was around 2hrs. I must say I am very pleased with my decision after long debate and questions of concerns that were answered by a few members. The ride seems to be the same, the drop is very nice and even, although everything is still settling. It is definately noticeable and wifey approved. The midpipe came off as easy as it went on. I can now vouch that the sedan mid pipe is one big A$$ piece and heavy. I took the time to weigh both, results as follows: (1) Me on scale by myself; 195lbs. (2) Me on scale holding sedan midpipe; 237lbs (3) Me on scale holding coupe midpipe; 212lbs. Thats a difference of 25lbs, which is ridiculous that NISSAN/INFINITI every did that. The sound is nice and deep, definately noticeable on startup and under slight acceleration. NO DRONING, NO HITTING THE HEATSHIELD OR DRIVE SHAFT CATCH BRACKET. It is definately a must modification not for sound alone, but come on 25lbs is alot of weight hanging from your car. I also took the liberty to post some pics:

I can see the difference probably is more noticable in person though. How much of a drop does the Z and G coupe spring give you? What is the average price people are paying for coupe Midpipes I am looking to dropping some weight off of my G since I added the spoiler and lip and a more aggressive sound while still keeping with a factory product is something I would be interested in.

 

Can any year front Z springs work? Or are the 03-04's bouncy? I don't recall what was changed on the Z suspension to correct the bouncy motion many drivers complained about.

Nice job! I can attest that the Z/Coupe combo is great. About a month ago, I was lurking through the forums for the right set up for me. I came across DaveB's setup and thought it was perfect for me. So I did it, and love it.

Yes, any year of FRONT Z spring will work.

Bounce is caused by the shocks, when Nissan revised the oem Z suspension 2004.5, new shocks were used with less compression dampning and greater rebound control. I still have a set of 03 oem Z shocks on hand, they do everything on the G35 that has been written by Z owners, bounce and porposing.

 

Looks good, interseting combo on the suspension. That seems like a good combo. It looks to even the drop on the rear. My rear sits about a 1/4" lower than the front (I have thought about a spacer, but I really think it works well).

I also added a midpipe this week, but removed the heat shield. Mine was way to close (err... I need 2 inches). I may modify it, and reinstall the HS.

What do you guys think about removing the heat shield? I searched, and it seemed like no one thought it was that big of a deal, but no real info on it. I did not have any problem with the drive shaft support (or whatever the brace is called that catches the drive shaft).

 

My search is on for z front springs! Thanks guys. Maybe my car will ride level again soon.

 

Any clearance issues with the lower front. I like having some breathing room but must say the Dave B setup looks good. The rears already looks lowered from the factory so getting the match looks good!

 

No clearance issues at all. The car sat so high anyways, that an 1" drop is not going to cause any problems.

 

Cool and just think - unsprung weigh went down by a spiral!
