One faster ( a very modified 2000 Camaro). But never a car so much fun on a daily basis.
and sacrifice reliability and a much nicer interior? No thanks.

I owned an 05 G35X and sold it for the SRT due to many annoying problems. Nothing major mechanically, but squeaks and rattles that I didn't think belonged on a car in the G's class. Foreign car owners are quick to criticize American cars, but after 18,000 miles the SRT is the most trouble free car I've ever owned (and I've had many) without a single issue, squeek or rattle.

Give it some time. Remember, your car is driving on an old Mercedes E-class platform. Not a car known for reliabilty.

Oh yea, what kinda gas mileage do you get around town with your SRT?

You are incorrect, or should I say, very partially correct. Only the rear link suspension is from the E class. This is a new platform that borrows a few parts from Mercedes, which is a good thing. Especially the AMG transmission (best tranny I've owned, bar none). I'd much rather borrow Mercedes parts than Nissan's. See below:

"The LX platform is Chrysler's new full-size rear wheel drive automobile platform for the mid part of the 2000s. The LX was developed in America using components borrowed from the Mercedes-Benz W220 S-class control arm front suspension, Mercedes-Benz W210 E-Class the 5-link rear suspension, the W5a580K 5-speed automatic, the rear differential, and the ESP system."

After driving every SRT made at high speeds at the Skip Barber driving school I can tell you this is one rock solid platform. The car drives and handles at 160 mph like you are going 60.

Oh, and I'm glad you asked about gas mileage. I don't do much city driving, but my highway mileage is better than I got with my G35X, despite a much more powerful motor almost twice the displacement. About 22 mpg. My G's poor gas mileage was almost unexplainable given its displacement. I'm sure you've seen the numerous post addressing that.

Sweet cars, but I can't afford the gas. I have a friend with a 300C SRT8 and he gets about 13 in the city and no more than 19 on the highway.

The GX gets about 16-18 on the highway from my experience and others. Forget the car computer. If you log it from fill up to fill up, it's insane.

You would expect this from a big thumpin V8 but not from a small V6.

I would not argue that it's faster than my mustang. Or at least as fast. Especially in the snow LOL.

As for the Charger SRT8 - I considered the R/T because the SRT was way out of my price range. I don't believe for a second that I could get 22 mpg around town with an SRT Charger. Maybe that guy does, but I ain't payin $40,000 to prove him wrong. I'll put the extra $20,000 in my tank (and motor). Hope you get good reliability later. I wouldn't expect problems at 18,000.

Dont fully understand your post, but my point on gas mileage was that the G35X gets horrendous gas mileage, and everyone on this board can confirm. All I was saying, since someone brought it up, was that the SRT, at 6.1 liters, gets better mileage than my 3.5 X did.

Nor would I expect problems at 18,000. And that begs the question why so many are having problems, squeeks, and rattles in the G's in that time frame. I know I did and I'm wondering why as well. Too much money for those kind of "Sentra" problems...

I'll take my squeeks and rattles and forget about owning a DC car.

Our G doesnt get horrendous mileage, and its an X.

And why would you get an X anyways? If you can live with a RWD SRT, then why not a RWD G? They get better mileage.

PS i bet the 07 G doesnt rattle and squeek.

I got 16 mpg in my G, and yes, that is horrendous for a little V6.

I liked the fact that the X acted as rear wheel drive until AWD was needed. I've always been a RWD guy but liked the AWD in bad weather.

I hope the 07 is different. It looks real nice but doesn't help the 05-06 buyers.

Sorry for the confusion - I thought you had said 22 in the city, but you said highway. I think I could do that in my g35x. BUT I agree that's still not good considering my 95 mustang GT with 140,000 would get 23-24 mpg at over 80 miles an hour.

As far as squeaks and rattles. Mine has 38,000 and is quieter than anything I've ever had. SRT's are badass looking cars for sure, but for me and my price range the 04 G35x made a lot more sense than a $40,000 dodge that isn't a viper and isn't known for reliability. If I had the money...I'd have an 07 G35x. To each his own bro. I sure ain't going to the SRT site though and try to run down the SRT. I'll leave that for the road. Drive hard bro.

It's cool. Everyone has their own preferences. I've driven the Viper at the track, and it's unreal. At Skip Barber, we entered turns at 160 sideways (instructor driving) and it was a blast. Still, I think for the money I'd try the Z06 first. As for the G, we all know that it's top of it's class. It just wasn't for me. I'm a true need for speed guy and needed more. The SRT has me satisfied, even after a year of ownership. It's the only car of approx 20 that I've owned that I can't wait to get into every day after a year.......I was kinda bored with the G after 6 months.

Again, I'm not bashing the G. I think it's a great choice for a sporty sedan. I think I just misjudged what I was looking for........
