Question Bent Floor Boards Infiniti G35 Sedan

Hopefully I have come to the right place. I thought I would save myself some money and order new tires on line and then have them drop shipped to a tire shop to have them installed. Well, I got the tires and they drive really well. The problem is that in the front on the drivers side and on the passenger side the floor board is raised. In talking with my roommate she said that they did not use the correct lift points when they lifted my car to change the tires and now they have bent the frame.

The floor is raised so high on the drivers side that I can not put my foot on the false pedal and I have to take my take my shoe off to drive. It is not so bad on the other side. I really did not notice this until I was about half way to work since I had this done on my way to work yesterday morning.

The shop is not open until Monday morning, and I am a little nervous about calling them and telling them that they messed up my car.

I need to find out exactly what I need to tell them. Do I tell them that they bent the car frame by not using the correct lift points?

I tried to beat the bump down with a hammer but it was not budging. So I tried to lift the carpet up so that I could see exactly what was going on. I could not pull the carpet all the way up because I was so pissed and hot that I was afraid that I was going to rip the carpet. It looks like there is a piece of large styrofoam so beating it with the hammer was fruitless.

My roommate says that I need to call the shop back and file a claim with them and then get their insurance information and then take the car to Infiniti to get it fixed. I would love any suggestions. I love my car and I just want to get this fixed.

The new tires are great I got Michelin Pilots, much better than the Bridgestone that I had before.

Thanks for your time,

Gretchen

take lots of pictures and contact your insurance before going to the shop. I dont know if they can even fix it if they truly bent the frame that much. You might be getting a new car.

Do the G's require special adaptors to fit the "frame" to lift it. (this is Uni body, no frame in the traditional sense)

So once I show you guys the pictures you are going to tell me that I am screwed....

So what exactly do I tell my insurance company, that I had a shop put tires on my car and when they did so they did it wrong and bent the frame. This will go over really well with them.

My insurance company is going to hemmorage...
2004 Car accident T-boned by an 'Old Fart' --- $13,000 dollars
2005 Hurricane Wilma Fence and shed blew into car ----$8000 dollars
2006 Floor Boards bent when trying to save money on Tires ---Priceless.

My buddy who owns a body shop just had mine on their lift (installing aero bumper and painting the side/rear skirts) and told me he had to jack it up manually to get the lift pads under the frame rails. I guess the tire shop didn't go the extra mile.

I have had the same insurance company for over 23 years. About 5 years ago they started to treat me different, no call backs, slow service, ugly attitude etc.

I figured out why.

I added up all the money I had paid them over the years and subtracted all the money they had paid out to me on claims. I had cost them money.

The good news is you haven't "bent the frame" so to speak because the unibody is so stiff. The chassis really hasn't been compromised; however, I'd be REALLY ticked if some shop did this to my car and your case sounds very extreme. I would have never thought you could bend the under carriage so badly by simply not using the correct lift point. There really is no easy way to fix this either and it can't be fixed so that everything is "perfect". I'd call the shop, call your insurance, call the BBB, and research your small claims court fees and how much you can sue for. I know that in my city, I can sue for up to $5000 and no lawyers are involved. I've had two things happen in my life that I've needed to file ($35) with my small claims court. It's amazing how quickly you get your money when you have the sheriff deliver an order to appear in court to your defendant. I think auto shops, like most businesses, are required to carry insurance for just this sort of thing.

The shop or their insurance should end up paying for the repairs, not your insurance company so I wouldnt worry about it.

Bro, please keep us informed with some photos, i am really curious as to see how can they ..do something like this to your G with incorrectly lifting your G (did they use lift or jack?)

Moreover, I really feel your pain, imagine if something like this happen to us.. just because we are changing tires!? I believe most of us go to a shop or DIY for changing their wheels... instead of going to the dealership and get ripped off lol

Good luck bro !

Gretchen:

Wow! Sorry to hear about your problems!

Sounds like that shop has a few incompetent ppl working for them!

Hopefully, they'll step up to the plate and admit that they screwed up. If they deny fault, you may have a battle on your hands. That's when your insurance company has to go to bat for you. Call them, and inform them of your issue. Let them know that you will be contacting the shop, and hopefully the shop's insurance will take care of everything. Your insurance company may just tell you that they will only need to get involved if the shop or it's insurance won't step up. At that point, they should arrange repairs, and go after the shop and other insurance for the costs. It may get messy and stressful at that point.

Again, call your company first, and see what they say. Good luck.
