Motordyne spacer guys

I'm going to order one of two things today (05X). Either the ISO Thermal or the Copper. From talking to Motordyne, my understanding is the Thermal heats the TB by heating the whole plenum, like the stock config, but has a manual switch to bypass that for the warm months. The Copper eliminates the plenum heat altogether, and heats only the TB, but it heats it all the time, even in summer.

Seems to me that if the manual switch on the Thermal is easy to get to, that there may be some advantages in the summer. The Copper, on the other hand, offers the convenience of not having to remember.

Any thoughts on this for those that own them? Any help is appreciated. Go Steelers!!

You should do a search over in the Tech forum. If you are only interested in doing the ISO Thermal upgrade and already have the spacers installed, I didn’t notice much if any performance increase from the ISO Thermal upgrade. The other two people in the thread below had the same experience:

https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-exhaust/71386-group-install-iso-thermal-gasket.html

If you do decide to do the upgrade, you should read this thread because it has valuable information (pictures!!!!!!!!) that is overlooked in the instructions sent by Motordyne.

I don't have anything yet. I was going to do the spacers and thermal at once, along with Stillen CAI.

Thanks for the link. Gives me something to think about (maybe doing just the spacers).

Get the Skunk2 spacers. They actually dyno'd them for a 9-10 hp gain It was on last months turbo magazine.

I have a related question. MD's site says the 1/2" spacer will work with the stock cover but you'll have to leave the stock strut bar off. I have an 05X and there is no strut bar. Does that refer to the coupes?

Augy, the Skunk2 spacer does not show the use of support spacers??

I believe this is in reference to the 350z which has a front strut bar.

Yeah.....they're definitely referring to the Z....the G's don't have strut bars in the engine bay (at least the sedans don't). Get the 1/2" !

from the threads and posts in the tech forum, the motordyne appears to outperform the skunk2 spacers, especially for the g35... skunk2 spacer mentioned in the magazine was tested only for the z and sometimes gains on a z are no where near the gains on the g35 or vice versa...
motordyne spacer seem to provide better gains both hp and torque wise and across the entire band for the g35 according to some of the posted dyno charts...
