someone made this carbon fiber engine cover for the 350z and was wondering if it would fit on the sedan or coupe..

Re: Will This Fit

No way of knowing without test fitting, but my guess is that it will. I'm pretty sure the front mounting holes are the same, but the 2 at the rear (of the Carbon Fiber Cover) I'm not sure of. They may line up with 2 other plenum bolts on our G's.

Yes! Rear bolts are not a problem. Modifications are necessary for cars with a mechanical fan and stock air intake system.

Here's a picture of my engine with the 350Z Air Duct, Engine Ornament (Cover) and "Stealth" installation of GordGee's 7-wire Hyper-Ground Kit.

I'm pretty sure that's the Real Sports carbon fiber cover, and it should fit, according to the guys at Bulletproof Automotive...

Re: Will This Fit

Looked at Bulletproof's site and look what I found. Wonder if it is better than the Crawford plenum? If it fits the Z, then it should fit ours. Price looks to be cheaper too. The way I see it, is that we might be able to use our stock plenum lid and look totally stock.

dholly,

Good deal.

Did you ask Colin about increases in HP - Torque?

How about a group buy if the $$/HP is worth the expense?

Re: Will This Fit

Mike,

How did you find this on their bbs? I went to bulletproof's
site and found only aero kit stuff plus an exhaust listed
under G35/coupe/sedan. Also nothing designed for the
sedan, only coupe stuff.

2003 Twilight Blue Sedan 5AT, sunroof, Graphite Leather,
splashguards, GG red 8 wire Hypergrounding kit, 350Z intake duct, K&N filter.

Re: Will This Fit

ok - I'm too impatient to wait. With apologies to dyenboy for the hijack, I found this info on my350Z.com:

- All you get are the blue "spacer" pieces, not the entire manifold.
- According to Esprit, the spacers add 10mm height to the stock plenum to improve the air flow issue with the front cylinders.
- It looks as if the intent behind the Esprit setup is similar to what Crawford was trying to achieve, just not as good. While the Esprit spacers would allow for more overall flow into the intake manifold, it doesn't look like it will correct for the 30% flow differential between the front and rear cylinders as well as the Crawford Plenum does.

A member there also emailed Colin and received this reply:

"The Esprit intake actually fits betwen the upper and lower manifold. According to Esprit, it acts sort of like a large gasket, lengtheing the intake runners to allow them to breath better and increase hp and throttle reponse throughout the entire powerband. They haven't posted any dyno numbers on it as of yet. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Colin"

That should pretty much put this one to bed.

Now, about that carbon fiber cover...would this 1/2 cover help eliminate the "bending" necessary when replacing full stock cover over the Crawford, assuming of course you didn't mind the rear manifold exposed?

Re: Will This Fit

Cato,
I found the Pleneum under the 350Z section.

Dholly,
Great. Let us know what BPA has to say.

DaveO,
A group buy sounds very interesting.

Dyenboy,
That chick in your sig always looks wasted. Cool. Where did you see a $700 price? I only saw the $495 price.

Re: Will This Fit

$495 just for the gasket is a bit steep.. I am very interested in the gain versus Crawford. If similay I will go with gasket..
