What are the holes for?

In the rear passenger side wheel well I see 4 holes behind the tire.I don't see any on the driver's side.Did something fall off?Looks like maybe a bracket was there.

If it makes you feel any better, I have it too. No great ideas on what it could be for though, some wild guesses, but that's it. Weird. And what's up with that cheapo plastic cover for the gas 'input tube'?

Re: What are the holes for?

Am I the only one that took 9 months to figure out that the gas door locks when the alarm is engaged...?

I hope you figured out that if you hit the unlock on the remote and do not open any of car doors that all of the doors will lock in approx. 25 seconds. I am still trying to figure out how he did it, but someone on Fresh Alloy said he locked his keys in the car when he stopped to get gas because of this feature.

He must have had the keys out of the ignition. I don't think it'll lock if they're in, but I haven't tested this.

Re: What are the holes for?

It will auto lock with the keys in the ignition (I was bored while waiting to pick someone up a couple of days ago and was playing around.) However the trick there is getting out of the car without opening the door. That is what why the guy's claim on FA forum is strange.

And keeping the windows and sunroof closed. I suppose if you're really skinny, you can squeeze out throught the trunk pass-through.

Re: What are the holes for?

I'm not sure I understand. My car has never auto locked all of the doors. The only way I can lock all of the doors is by pushing the button on the remote or on the door panel. The doors do not lock when I put it into drive either (like some other cars). I thought that feature could not be programed. I must be missing something.

So, if you unlock only the driver's door by using the remote (once) and let the car stand untouched for about 30 seconds, the doors will lock??

Yes. It's a convenience feature in case you accidentally hit the unlock button with the keys in your pocket or something.

Re: What are the holes for?

I had this happen to me

Got out of the car to refuel
forgot to unlock all the doors
used the remote to unlock the doors and opened the gas tank door.
Finished and went to open door and it was locked.

Because I used the remote ot open the door it locked after a small amount of time

Safety Feature to keep you from unlocking you doors accidentally (big wad of money pressing the unlock button when you bend over) and letting someone steal all you good patsy cline cds

So if you are refueling, unlock the doors from the inside, just like you would if you had a fuel door release. Then go refuel.

PS gotta love this car, if you don't step on the pedal on the right for a refresher

Have a healthy day!

Re: What are the holes for?

How could it happen?
you left the key in the car for gas, fine, forgot to open all doors and gas hatch so you went back to
driver seat ( you could not press the remote from passenger side because the door were locked)
and you used the remote to open all doors rather than just press the bottom on the door?
I'm confused and feel lucky in NJ, we don't get out car for gas.

Re: What are the holes for?

OK, I tried it. If you unlock either the driver's door or all the doors with the remote, don't open the doors, the car will automatically re-lock all of the doors in about 45 seconds. However, if you open a door during the 45 seconds and close it again, the doors will not re-lock.

So, I'm not sure how the doors can re-lock when fueling the car. Once you get to the gas station, you get out of the car, and get begin fueling. I never lock the doors when getting gas, and you have to open the door to get out of the car. How will the car automatically lock itself? You must have accidently hit the remote with that roll of money in your pocket. But then you would have heard your horn go off (unless you turned that function off)....Anyways, as long as you don't get locked out of your car....
