Brakes rubbing

Brakes rubbing

I did a search on this and no luck.

I have about 8,000 miles on my 2005 G35X and have been getting a rubbing noise on the brakes when coming to a stop. Almost like a mild abrasive noise. No squeaking, just rubbing and it’s been happening for the last few thousand miles.

Any ideas on this.

Thanks

Not quite the same as yours but possibly related??

I have a 2005 g35x as well. 5000 miles. And I just started getting a mild squeaking out of what sounds the back brakes. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet but will soon.

Any others out there with either symptoms/experiences?

Nate

i had a customer just get the rotors replaced under warranty with no problems b/c of the warping. just bring it in they should not have any issues throwing another set of rotors on there w/ low miles

I have an 05 X model with 11,000 mile and am already on my 3rd set of front brakes and rotors and 2nd set of rear brakes and rotors. At 5000 miles the front brakes started grinding when coming to a stop and I could see that the rotors were scored. I also had a loud squealing coming from the brakes as well. At 6,000 they resurfaced the rotors. This didn't help as the problem persisted and at 7,000 change they front brakes and rotors. After 1,000 miles I started getting the grinding and the rotors were scored again. Getting it fixed this time was a lot more difficult. At my dealers request, I called Infiniti Consumer Affairs and after first being told that they would have a technical specialist look at my car, they ultimately refused to help me claiming that brakes are a normal maintenance item and are not covered under the warranty although at the time my car only had 8,000 miles on it. I called the GM at my dealership to protest this and he was very helpful. He got a regional specialist to look at the car which at this time now had 10,000 miles on it. They changed all 4 rotors and brakes as they determined that the front brakes were wearing faster than normal and the rear rotors were glazed which was causing the squealling. I'm still worried that the brake problems will persist in this car and am hoping that Infiniti extends the warranty so that I don't have to go through this hassle everytime I have a problem with the brakes.

I guess my point is that you need to either call Infiniti consumer affairs or the GM at the dealer and raise a stink about this as it's not normal to have excessive brake wear this early.
