the reason that the sedan lost in the road&track contest wasnt cuz its AWD system sux, its just the overall package is dated. still a good car, but others have surpassed it, thats all. same with the coupe..its still the best looking copue for the money, but it will need updates to keep up with competitions, thats just the way things are. there are always newer and better things coming out every year..
i wasnt talking about nissan's awd system. and certainly not talking about their skyline GTR... the sedan, g35x is the topic no?

but i agree they prob lost partially b/c its an old design.

The X was faster through the cones, handled better and lapped faster than than the rwd G. Yea I was surprised too....If the g35x came in 6 out of 7 the g35 would prolly have come in lower if not the same. And BTW in that test ALL 7 cars were AWD. So no the G didnt loose out cuz it was AWD and rest were RWD. It lost mainly cuz of dated platform, interior etc whereas almost all other cars were significantly new. In the acceleration dept the G was actually up in the top three.
i knew all 7 cars were AWD in the test (which i didnt read, only just now i saw the 7 cars and their ranking). i never said that the g35x lost b/c its awd and the test was with other rwd cars (why would u even think i said that?) i said "so usually the g35 sedan with RWD is the one that would more likely win those contests against other RWD sedans."... which brings me to my point...

the g35 rwd sedan vs other rwd sedans in its class would do better than the g35x awd sedan vs other awd sedans in its class. thats what i was tryin to say. and its just my opinion... not a fact (and these comparisions are just opinion anyways, and everybody has different criteria to judge cars. i dont know what criteria they used for the R&T article but im sure if you were to ask everyone on this forum how they'd rank those vehicles in the test where the g35x finished 6th... well you'll most likely get all different answers)

personally, if i were to rank those cars i'd put more emphasis on speed but a lot of awd buyers probably arent as concerned with speed as with safety.
