So trance, no 18's arent out of the question, if you want the best performance on the track then go with some light weight 17's but 18's will still be a good choice if you want looks and performance.

Well.. after reading what I have said, I felt that I was a bit too harsh by saying you were wrong. But anyways, from experience and my rough calculation, going from a 18x8 to a 18x9.5 (at the back) will still increase the rotational mass by a factor of ~ 1.3 even though the mass drops from 23lbs to 18lbs, which is mainly due to the increase in Tire mass (which resides only on the edge of the rim).

But well, for look and handle performance, I would definitely go with that setup. Yet, for the track (drag i mean), I guess there must be a reason why people stick with their stock rear (for RWD) or go with even smaller rear rim...
to decrease that Moment of Inertia of the rear wheel combination.

Perry - I understand that...re-read my thread and my math...I did the calc. to show him that w/ 18's and that setup, he will rub, using Nickk6's tire spec., but I calc'd it for 18" rims. 26.66" or 26.8" tire O.D. means OD, regardless of what size the rim is. Make sense?
